New Securefast

Could somebody tell me how easy the new securefast (black case) is to pick with the cb curtain pick ?

Is it a case of picking the low leavers first or the binding leavers ?

I have noticed that a lot of sitex doors have these fitted now.

If you up against a lot of sitex, its worth getting the Safe Ventures decoder for Securefast.

Cheers Taylor, does it work on the new securefast though ? Thought it only worked on the older one where the curtain turns right round.

it works exceptionaly well on the new securefast, just read to back of levers instead of front and different readings than old, 1 min opening max.

Does anyone find that the securefast tool sometimes gives an incorrect reading ?

On the securefast. I did hear of someone else mentioning this. One particular numbered leaver, I can't remember which one, sometimes can gives a false reading.

This can happen with any of the decoders, just make a note of it when it occurs and you will be aware of it for next time you use that particular decoder.

The most common misreading was on the old mauve version of the lock, where both a No1 and a No2 would turn a full 360, though with practice it was easily distinguished as the No2 had an audible heavy clunk and the No 1 was far smoother.

On the old system reader keys also tended to wear which caused some problems to some, it was always worth having a spare set of reader keys cut from the originals.

a loose case screw would also give strange readings , and a loose case screw was a common problem

got the screwfix version of the new securefast dunno if its the same?
i have had 3or 4 20min spells at picking this over the weekend but just keep dropping into the anti pick notches.these notches have the same feel as the real gateway probably because they are the same size, you need quite a bit of tension for the levers to even stay up at all.
i have put a peephole in now and the back lever no5 then no1 are staying up and they do have a slightly different feel but then i am slipping into the other levers no2,2,1s anti pick notch, then i have to tease the bolt forward slowley lift these up and quickley return the tension, its not easy and i dont know if this is the right method.its prob a simular method you might use on a chubb or union bs .
let us know if your using the same method of differant.
richard.
ps any1 seen shurb or pinky ? i havent seen any of their posts for a while,
i was hoping they might of replied to this 1
