anyone made a curtain pick for the securefast lock, the curtain does not throw the bolt on these locks so i made a tention bar to work ok but only from the left side ,i come across a few of these and they pick ok so its a shame to drill for right hand

The Safe Ventures kit is easily the best way to open a Securfast. However its not to hard to make some reader keys. Slightly trickier is a makeup key or you could make some space and depth keys and then cut a key to the decode.

So if you have the time and inclination you can make your own kit... or if your a lazy bugger like me just buy one.

throwing the bolt isnt hard once picked, as to pick it you would need a bolt thrower on the pick body thats long enough to fit in the talon and tension the bolt, if you havnt a bolt thrower on your pick body then you wont tension the bolt and wont pick the lock as no levers would bind or set, if you adapt a pick body to have a bolt thrower that tensions the bolt , then it will also throw the bolt.

You miss the point! The Securefast curtain just rotates and never contacts the bolt to bind on the levers, it just doesnt work in the conventional manner henceforth the SV decoder method of lifting all the levers out of the way before a bit on the key moves the boly.

My question should have really been how do you pick it?

quite frankly i made my own decoder and opening kit. As said, it is easy to decode and work out lever numbers. I have made some key blanks each cut to one of the lever heights. Once code is worked out then i pop a blank key in the key machine cutter side and then put a 'key height blank' in the other side and cut any cuts for that depth. Then put a different 'key height blank' in and cut any cuts required for that height etc etc. You only need five cuts to produce a key that will open the lock.

I have made it sound more complicated than it is, but the process is probably ten mins or so. And saved me £££

no it doesnt work on the 2004 model. tried picking one of these a few months ago infact i think there shud be a post about it on here . i had to put loads of pressure on the bolt to get the levers to stay up,infact when i took the lock apart i had bent the back talon part of the bolt.does anybody know how the new pick, sorry decoder works ? i think i have an idea but maybe this post might wana be in the advanced forum now ???????

you can decode the new 2004 model with both the old safeventures decoder of 10 keys and the new safeventures decoder, just plot readings from the back of levers, take locking direction readings.

this new lock still decodes in around a minute with both SV kits.

Start with the drill bit sticking out by a couple of mm until a pilot hole is started then extend the drill bit.

yer tried that and it still wants to skid off. i thought with my milling machine this would be a fairly east job infact thats partly why i got it but the holes are all over the place. this is when i come up with the idea of getting some kind of jig made which i could clamp over the key bit while i drilled out . have you made your own make up key ?
