Old lever lock

Postby ilckurat » 14 Sep 2009 3:25

Hi all!
I had a chance to buy metal cases manufactured in 60's with these locks. Three of them are without key and one with key. So I will start to practise my picking skills on that lock. First attempts were pretty unsuccesful even when I tried it only with 2 levers with springs. But as many here I'll start to practise it with pelxiglass and I hope in time it can be done.

Nice find! It seems an interesting lock.
The plexiglass side is very important at the beginning, you can see what happens and understand what you're doing. I strongly suggest to use it just to start out, then put back the original side, otherwise you could become too used to see the levers and unable to "feel" the lock.

Happy picking :)

No Anti pick notches, is there a spring on each lever or is the lever pack riveted together like a Kromer Novum pack?

not sure if this is advanced but as I am not on the bit

In that lock there are two bottom levers with spirngs, other same type locks have different spring positions. I couldn't find any rivets.
Although I have now plexiglass done it takes time to "feel" the lock - need some more practise and to make better tools!
