securfast - Abel re-brand

Postby Rickthepick » 23 Oct 2009 7:24

Removed a black securefast non BS today that used an Abel name plate.

Initially struggled with picking this lock, so i opened it up and discovered a new lever pack design that iv not seen before.

This lever pack consisted of 3 normal securefast levers, the back lever already setup to take the stump but has a folded stump that will lift 3 other levers with it when picking.

The center lever has an antipick notch set inside the gate, which is a first time for me

Managed to pick it easilly enough once i knew the score but wondered what the purpose of these extra levers is? Some kind of master key or restriction setup.?

Il go take some pics now

sorry took so long to get the pic's up

as you can see back lever is already open to the bolt stump and has a folded lip on the underside to disrupt 2 other levers when touched. It does not align them correctly as i thought it might.

3rd lever has a cutout in the gateway which is unusual
The only reason i can come up with for this design is so that the 3rd lever can sit extra low in the lock as it hangs on the folded piece of the back lever.

all other levers are normal securefast nothing unusual

any ideas?

If you only lift the back lever with the lip, does it lift all the other lever gates to the stump?

Are all the other components, curtain, bolt and casings exactly the same as a normal Securefast?

hmmm seems i made a mistake.
the back lever does align the 3 in front of it. (im pretty sure it didnt last time i looked)

the front lever is not affected

i still cant fathom how this work work with other locks in a master keyed set though

In theory this should be a very simple pick but the back 4 levers dont bind with the lifting of the back lever. Still a moderately easy pick though
