Oui, Jaakko's tool.
Works very nicely, until you find a lock with a butterfly disk in the front, but those are rare. I made one for my Ski lock.

Cheers

Hi,

I looked for a vidéo where someone picked a Abus X Plus on youtube, I didn't find.
I looked for on some forums on internet, I didn't find.
I would like you ask four questions.

If someone picked a Abus X Plus, why didn't he do a vidéo ?
Why did he tell nothing ?

Do you know someone, who picked a Abus X Plus ?
If yes, could you tell me his nickname ?

Thanks very much to take the time for to answer to my four questions :D :D :D . For me it's very important ?

See you soon.

2) yes I did :)
3) yes

Hi,

I picked 2 padlocks Abus Plus 88/50. When a member of french forum, He asked to me : how many time for pick 1 padlock. For answer him, I bought 10 new padlocks. I didn't pick yet and I didn't watch their keys. I used a numeric clock with hours and minutes, but without seconds. Because I don't want to do a compétition, because the competition doesn't want tell a lot of things, because one day is a good day for me and second day is a bad day for me. So the secondes is ridiculeus for my work, minutes is good.
I divided the 10 new padlocks in two equal paquets: 5 and 5.

The five first, I used : Jaakko's pick with my tactile sensations.
The five of the end, I used : jaakko's pick with my tactile sensations and the vernier.

Here my time for pick, the five first :

1er cadenas 6mn
2ème cadenas 8mn
3ème cadenas 6mn
4ème cadenas 5mn
5ème cadenas 9mn

Here my time for pick, the five of the end :

6ème cadenas 2mn
7ème cadenas 2mn
8ème cadenas 2mn
9ème cadenas 6mn
10ème cadenas 2mn

Chapeau! That's what I call "be able to pick a lock" 8)

When I started playing with Jaakko's tool I couldn't pick without looking at the scale (vernier?). After some practice I was able to pick these locks blind, and your records seems to confirm the usefulness of the engraved scale of the tool.

Talking about locks, I like to have a couple of each, so I can learn to pick that kind of lock, not that specific bittings. But you have 12 similar locks... too many! Consider trading them (I'm not asking them since I already have some, this is just a friendly suggestion).

Cheers :)

hi marco,

nice work. can you tell me what version it is? i mean what kind of disc is under the
drill-protection disc; a number 6 disc - then its an older version
a number 1-5 disc - then its a newer version
a number 7 disc (butterfly) disc - then its the newest version

Hi Protec,

Thanks a lot for your encouragements. :D :D :D

The padlocks have 9 discs. The first and the last have the same gate and on all Abus Plus Padlock. So, You have to find the good gate for 7 discs with 6 possible positions (about 250000 possibilities). Each disc have 2 false gates. They have not butterfly disc.

But attention :!:

The Abus X Plus is different.

HI,

The padlocks with discs, there are two types :

Le padlocks when they open, it's impossible the key to come off the padlock, because one of side of shackle is always in padlock.
Examples : Abus granit 37/55 - Abus 88/50 - Abus 88/40 - Abus 89/50 - Abus 89/40 and some chinese disc padlocks.

Le padlocks when they open, it's possible the key to come off the padlock, beacause the two sides of shacles are outside of padlock.
Examples : Abus Granit 37/60 - Abus Granit 37/80 and some chinese disc padlocks.

For the second type, it's easy to cheat with picture. This is why, I made a vidéo for the Abus Granit 37/80. Now that I made a vidéo the Abus Granit 37/80, I can put the pictures of Abus Granit 37/60.

Here the two Abus 37/60

Image

Here its advertising. It's write : Impossible to pick (mécanisme incrochetable).

Image

Here The old Abus 37/60.
The difference between the new and the old is the head of the key.
