unusual Gege cylinder

Had to open this thing earlier... luckily it was a thumbturn.

Never seen one before looks like a resticted keyway and some sort of hardsteel plug insert

Lol I have a mountain of locks 'to be picked' nowadays.

Jusr for anyone interested i just found out it's a Restricted keyway with a 'stop plate' to prevent incorrct keys being fully inserted and some additional antidrill protection

I think that's the ANS-2. Squelchtone, GeGe are almost always insanely tough to pick but you do get the odd one that's easy-ish. Definitely worth getting one for the challenge, even their standard 5 pinners can be nightmares.

I know this is blasthemy on lp101 but if i get a gege on a job its almost always a rotary opening Can't waste valuable time picking them they are a really good lock

That's a gege ans-2 for sure but I guess you all know it by now
I've seen several of them lately. They are not just insanely hard to pick, but IMO both the carbide insert and the additional hard anti drill inserts make it really resistant to drill. Some even have steel pins inside them, but the one which are not steel have a real insidious anti pick from.
I think they are real high quality stuff. And it must be one of the most pick resistant 5 pin "normal" locks I know.

Iv had a short session on it and not got much further than a small false set stage.

The keyway is brutal with a severe V curve that prevents you getting to anything past the third pin into the plug.

Might need a custom hook for this one. Posting it out to Federico when i give up since he's a more competant picker

I remeber opening a gege cylinder once and it contained serrated pins
This looks like a more secure cylinder tho....

Congrats Squelchtone! Do you still remember approximately how long did it take you?
I gave up on one and took it apart. At my current level it's totally hopeless.

@Falc0n:The one I took apart had 5 pins (it was an ANS-2): 1 simple steel anti drill, 1 simple spooled and 3 serrated.

I kid, they're the devil. I think I took at least 10 minutes for the fastest one of those, and more like 15-20 on the rest, and that's leisurely TV picking. On site the rotary pick would be coming out fast, and one of those actually has the opposite end drilled.

PS: These are almost all 6 pin, as are most Gege's I've encountered, unless they're very old. The 5 pinner in this batch has a plugged but unfilled 6th chamber, and a 5 pin key.
