Double sided lock cylinder

Several years ago in Venice, I saw a double sided cylinder on a metal framed glass door. Unlike the Euro cylinder the plug seemed to extend the length of the cylinder and the broaching was symmetrical so the key could enter either end of the plug. I did not see the key but there would presumably be 'redundant' and/ or symmetrical cuts to facilitate double sided operation. Anyone knows who manufactures such cylinders.
