UK Locks?

Postby Zeppelin147 » 17 Jan 2005 7:41

Does anyone know where I can get some cheap locks in the UK(or even better, in Manchester)? I tried my local hardware shop, and they were as expensive as B&Q. Surely there must be an alternative.
I also need to get hold of some plug follows, as yesterday I learned the hard way that trying to use a piece of rolled up paper is not a wise idea.
Cheers

Plenty of cheap locks on ebay and make a follower from a piece of wooden dowel and cut a slot in the end.

Some of the best places for cheap locks are as follows:

1. Ebay (as mentioned)
2. Car boot sales (great place and dirt cheap!)
3. Pick a friends lock in under 15 seconds and I bet they buy a new one so you ask them for their old one :D
4. Local Paper - In the free ads from time to time I've seen them. You could also put in a free ad asking for old locks.

Hope that helps.

Have a look in skips (seriously!) also try rubbish dumps (offer the blokes there a tenner for a batch and see wot you get)
sledgehammers make excellent back up picks!

Yeah I forgot about them, doh!

Always worth looking and asking when a building full of flats is being done up or pulled down. Helps with my firewood as well :D
