Medeco euro half cylinder M3

Postby jptbay » 21 Apr 2019 4:34

Wondering if such a cylinder is available from Medeco. My local dealer has not had any luck, and searching the net finds me nothing.

I have a Zone Warrior 550 "Puck" or "container" lock that uses a euro half cylinder and I would like to re-key it to match my existing locks.

Been hunting for a Medico M3 keyway with 5 pins, but could make a 6 pin cylinder work.

Thanks!

Probably best to contact Medeco Tech Support direct to see if its available. You would still need to go thru a dealer, but Tech Sup could give you the part number for them to order. Make sure to identify both the part number for the cylinder, and the key way designation to match your key.

Keep in mind if the cylinder for this is a 60 series, only depths 4-7 can be used. If your existing locks are full size keys and have 1-3 depths on them, you would need to change the key. Tech Sup can confirm this.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm taking it on good faith that my local Medeco dealer tried some of this legwork with Medeco directly.

They claimed that the tail piece that fits into the end of the cylinder was an issue, but I was surprised to hear this as it looks to be very common.

They also claimed some of the euro parts are not available to order in North America, so I was hoping that someone in Europe familiar with Medeco cylinders may be able to help.

Whoever above said to call Medeco Tech Support has the right idea, they will at least tell you if those half cylinder part numbers are available in M3 technology in *your* keyway. Which keyway are your existing Medeco locks anyway?

Looks to me more like a 2322015 300 from page 130 of linked catalogue - EuroLine Profile Cylinder Modules, as length of cylinder is right about 30 mm as shown in video link.

Keyway A1638

A1638 is the Ilco key blank #, your keyway is the Medeco G3 keyway which is nationally available from any Medeco locksmith.

I did not notice your video link before, I see what you need now. I would take a screen shot of the video showing the front and back of that cylinder and call Medeco tech support and once you are on the phone with a real person ask them if you can email you a photo of what you are looking for.

good luck
