I've just received my first pick-set (SouthOrd C1510) today and was thinking of trying it out with an old padlock I have lying around. It is an Burg Wächter magno 400E 30.
Is this a good lock for a beginner, or is it better to try something else for starters?
Raking seems to work quite well to settle the first pins, but I have a hard time reaching the last pin.

Well, just raked it open........(yay, my first lock! :D )
But raking isn't actually picking, is it?
Still could use some tips on that, concerning this lock.

Well, I can open this lock easily now. It seems that when I set the fifth pin, if I hold the pick in the right angle while doing so, it automatically sets the first four as well...........with a tiny amount of torque, suddenly increasing greatly at the right moment.

Don't know if this is because I've worn out the lock, or because the lock is just built this way..........
