Mastered Lever Locks

Postby Chucklz » 26 Apr 2005 18:24

I recently saw a mention of Mastered Chubb 110's. I was wondering if you UK lockies could give us all a bit of an education on MK'ed Lever locks. What are the keying rules? How about picking these bad boys? etc etc....

110 mastered

Postby sidpick » 4 May 2005 6:48

The mastered version of the 110 comes to my knowledge in 2 formats (may be more!)
The normal format is using a standard 110 with two or three cuts in the detainers (Normally two - spaced 2 differs apart minimum)
This could be done on site or in a workshop by filing a second gate.
The second type I used to work on had a smaller barrel and curtain, so a different key was used, these are used in National Trust buildings in my local area.
Picking of the standard lock is by pin and cam, although this is the hardest mortice lock system there is (and I'm sticking to that!!)
The smaller barrel would require a modified tool, I have not seen one commercially available but it would be useful to have a second tip for the tool avoiding 'costly' drill damage to very old and expensive doors
