Hello all, it's my first post here, it seems a very nice community, so I hope you'll forgive my slightly rambling post. I'm a freelance security consultant specialising in designing and auditing the complete physical & digital security of sensitive data and communications systems. As such I pick locks when doing penetration testing and I design electronic access control systems, mechanical master keyed systems and various other aspects of physical security, although I am rarely involved in proper locksmithing myself as most straightforward installations will be handled by the in-house staff in larger firms or subcontracted to local firms with a more reasonable daily rate than mine

I'd like to have some sort of proof of my locksmithing skills - for the data side of things I'm certified up the wazoo, but there's no-one's logo on my letterhead to prove I know my arse from an Abloy, as it were. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone would know if a professional who is not technically a locksmith is eligible to join the MLA (from speaking with various MLA member subcontractors I should have no problem passing the BLI exam). Is it worth bothering with for my purposes?
