Curtain / 2 in 1 Picks

I'm thinking about making my own 2 in 1 and/or curtain pick and never having used one myself i have a couple of questions.

A 2 in 1 pick is as it says 1 pick, but the curtain picks I have seen, the CB pick for example is made up of two parts, wouldn’t it be possible to use a 2 in 1 type pick with what would be the tension leg altered to suit a curtain and the lifter leg shaped in the same way as the curtain pick wire.
It just seems to be that the added stability must make picking easier.

This is probably obvious when using one but as a say I’ve not had that experience as yet

The only tube I have been able to find in the suitable sizes (4.5 & 5.5mm OD) is made of brass, would this be strong enough to be used or is steel the best option, if so does anyone know where I could get suitable steel tube

Yes to all, i like a 2in1 curtain pick as you can make them very stiff, you have to get the lifter spot on to get the low levers though,

Brass is strong enough but if getting from a model shop try and get seemless and dont get the thin walled stuff (around .25mm) get the .46mm stuff,

You obviously realise that a normal 2in1 wont work because of the curtain,

Remember the turner doesnt have to be the exact size of curtain and can be a little smaller to provide a little bit of leeway

As a tip, dont solder your lifter on the side, make a proper piece that solders on the end of the tube, you can redrill the centre hole and file the outside once done, this will give you a lot more strength in the piece.

Sorry about the delay, been a bit busy.

Thanks for your input, I've been thinking about what you said, and i can see how it would be difficult to access the low levers using a pick where the lifter pivots on the centreline of the outer tube.

This had now made me think of trying to offset the point at which the lifter pivots, which i think should give you a larger angle to access the levers.

I don't know if you have much experience in making your own picks but if you do, do you think time would be better spent trying to perfect the shape of the lifter or positioning the pivot point higher.

Also another quick one (and believe me, i have looked over what seems like 90% of the internet) do you know where i can get suitable tube. The place I was planning to use only seems to sell it in bundles of 25+ a time and piano wire in bundles of 40+
