I hear a lot that it is difficult to get into the Advanced area and it takes time and we make people jump through hoops. Admins before me have dealt with this noise and admins after me will probably deal with it as well. There sure seems like a lot of entitled people on the internet these days who expect immediate access to the entire forum. We're working on changing things around in 2015, and and while we can't make everybody happy, I think you may like what we have in store.
I will say that as of this week, after having voted on the applicants from December, we now have 600 members who have Advanced access. By that number alone, you can tell it isn't some secret elite club that nobody ever gets into.
