North London meeting

Postby sivlogkart » 23 Sep 2005 13:09

I wondered how many people would be interested in a north London lockpicker meeting. I live in Hitchin so anywhere between Euston Road and Hitchin is fine for me. Is anyone else interested?

Best wishes,

Kalvis

London

London is a very big place, and I would hope that we could have several LSI groups in London. I live north of London and work in WC1E. There are lots of UCL students around there that might be interested, and hopefully many other people too, but it seems that there are not many people who would be willing to run a group. If there are people who would be willing to run such a group in that area, I would be willing to help teach people to pick padlocks etc. to get things started, and hopefully there would be other people who could help to. The problem we have is that I know a lot of interested people, but they are nearly all beginners. If this group had a lot of people of student age, they don't want an old staff member running their LSI club, as it would be too much like the rest of the day. I think the LSI idea is a really good one, and there is interest for it around here, it is just a case of getting it started. I bet once it was started we would wonder where the inertia came from. (Also I have a problem with one of the rules, which DB knows about. It is rule 8 I think. We have to be very careful here I know, but I do believe that people can change, and would not want to rule out a former criminal for ever. Don't jump to any conclusions though, I am not thinking of me :) as it does not apply. )

Also I know that I am new around LP101 myself, and many are wondering who this d0ded0 is, which I understand. I really wish LSI existed when I was a student, but this group should not be just for students, and I am not suggesting that. It is just I know there is a lot of interest in that group of people, as they are the people I see every day.

So is there a respected LP101 member who is in that area, who could help such a group get started? I think part of the inertia is that some people would think to suggest you could run such a group, you would have to be the best lockpicker in north London. That is not so, but really just a bit of basic picking skill would be enough. I can help get the ball rolling until better people are found, or are trained. Are there any locksmiths in that area who could help too? Remember that north London alone has a population bigger than all of Latvia!

Give LSI a chance!

round up

There are a number of people in the London WC1 area that are either lockpickers already or want to learn that will be joining us here in the near future, and some others that joined today. So at some stage a London meeting around here should take place.
