I'm up for it, and I've got at least one friend who probably would be too. I'm fairly new to the actual practice but that's not too major..

I actually contacted LSI about what has to happen to start a chapter in Melbourne, and got this from Josh Nekrep:

As for the next step, we generally recommend that you conduct a meeting or two
with whomever you currently have. We've found that the hardest part of having
an LSI chapter is getting interest for the first couple meetings. So there's
really no point in you collecting member dues unless you know your group will
stick.

When you conduct your first meeting, take pictures and write up some notes
after. :)

Beyond that, it's really just paperwork that I can help you with. But start with
having your first meet.

So let's do it.

The first meeting of the Melbourne chapter will be held this Thursday (27.2.07). We plan to meet in the city outside story hall.

see: Outside view click here

Meet under the green arch/ cave at 5.30pm. We will wait no longer than 5.45 before moving to a cafe or bar to continue the meeting.

Story hall is located 1 building from the corner of Swantson st and Latrobe streets next to RMIT. Once on the corner it is near impossible to miss the green cave.

The initial meeting will be to discuss future locations, meeting times/dates and issues regarding starting a chapter in Melbourne.

Everyone welcome!

For any further details contact Myself or Jhl via pm.

The meetings are currently running weekly on Tuesday evenings, meeting 6pm at the Melbourne Uni tram stop.

Four members, though one's overseas. Average age is early 20s. And what did we get up to? Picking!

Feel free to come along. PM me if you're interested.

All of us are relatively new, and we have a new member who's never picked before in his life. Come along. All are welcome.

Hello
I used to live in Melbourne, Port Melbourne.

Now i live in Western Victoria about 3.5-4 hours from Melbourne near Horsham, But we do travel down there a lot.

I think getting a group going in Melbourne is a great idea!

It would be good to get one going up here too in West VIC, although i don't know if there's many people interested in Lock Picking in this area.

One day if i can I'll try to get to one of you're meets in Melbourne.

Also please keep giving us updates on how the group is going down there in Melbourne.

The group's cruising -
4 actual members, plenty of interested parties, currently meeting every second week or so.

Do drop by if you're in town! None of us are advanced pickers (yet) but we do have a good time.

Hello

That's good that you're getting along good down there.

I'm pretty new to this lock picking too, I brought a set of picks about 1 year ago and they have been sitting on my bench until recently. I've only recently got in to the lock picking craze. The only locks I've picked are wafer and pin tumbler locks (Low Security).

I also enjoy making the picks as well as picking locks.

Well, our group is just bumming around in pin-tumbler gaining skill at the moment really.

That said, if you're interested in other types of lock, we are doing a little work on safe (combo) and disc locks at the moment.
