Hey!

What picklocks should I buy and from where? They would be used for Finnish locks and some padlocks.
Is there big difference between American picks and the slim European picks? I mean should I choose the European picks or does it even make any difference.

Finnish locks and padlocks are mainly Abloy.
As you may know, they cannot be picked as pin tumbler locks with traditional picks. Tools or picks for Abloy do exist, but they cannot be discussed on open forum. Sorry.

Welcome to LP101!
We should really get together and have a couple beers and pick locks.
Are you guys (all of you Finns) interested in having a mens night out, talk and pick locks and just get to know each other?
I'm having my shoulder operated soon, so there will be no work in February. Don't know if I can pick locks with just one hand, but my mouth works fine. We could atleast drink and talk! :P

Welcome Maveric!

Wizer, just let us know where and when :)
If you can´t drive then you choose the place and (at least suggest) the time.
And best of luck with your operation...

Hello,
It has been quite quiet in Finland. Local forum seems also be down and before that there was only handful of active writers. Last posting to Jaakko's blog was also a half year ago.

Greetings,
Nice to see fellow countrymen interested in lock picking!

After many years of thinking about it I finally decided to learn more about lock picking. I bought some pin tumbler pad locks from K-rauta and Clas Ohlson and made some ugly tools out of hack saw blades. Some of the locks are pretty tricky ones for me (ex. Abus 65/40, not open yet...), but I have accepted the challenges! Just ordered a cheap beginners lock pick set to start out with and to modify for my needs.

And thank you Jaakko for the amazing blog (haittalevy), I really enjoy reading trough it!

I have a huge amount of new stuff to learn! :)
