Just thought I might point out that the OP was in 2004. Might be a bit late on advice in re the quality as I doubt he could return them now being nearly 10 years later.[/quote]
Don't Peterson do a lifetime guarantee or something like that?!
10 years might be pushing it tho!
For what its worth, I think Southord do good stuff. Their prices are lower than the likes of HPC but the tool quality is much better than the likes of Goso and Klom. For the prices they charge I have to say I am a fan!

Most of the pics i have in my truck are southord, or self made. I use them always and have never had any problems.

Yeah. That takes me back to when I used my dads CC to order my first pick set about 6 years ago. LoL I was about seventeen years old and I had to beg him to let me order my first pick set. Finally after annoying him for about a couple of days, he gave in and let me use his CC, I ordered my first pick set and began picking. LoL I don't regret it to this day, and six years later, I still have most of my pick set.
Some died along the learning path because of a ton of use... (Short hooks, rakes, offset half diamonds....)

We have issued Southord picks for years. With about 1000 sets issued, we have never had a report of a broken pick. Granted, the strength of a pick isn't the full measure of its worth, but we've always been impressed with their quality.

I bought the slim line pick set (advertised as for euro cylinder locks). I got it mainly because of the price. From the week I spent looking online I thought it would be a reasonable entry level kit that I wouldn't be to bummed about putting in a drawer and forgetting about if hobby picking wasn't for me. I think it's a great kit for the price, especially the finish on the handles. Needless to a night has not gone by without me annoying the missus with the constant click of pins being picked.
