It's probably been done before but I figure I would show them anyway. Its a good way to get used to picking a door lock rather than a padlock.

I did not take my time just estimated the measurements and threw it together out of some scrap wood.

Nice.
I was thinking of doing something similar, but more of a tabletop version.

They sell a tabletop version on itstactical.com. Never seen one like that though. Clean install and all though man, great job.

Bringing an old thread back to life... great job on those. I may just steal that idea and adapt for table top use...
Imagine a world without locksmiths... We'd be in deep trouble. It wouldn't ever happen though.

I would at least screw the latches and bolts to the edge so that the locks don't bind when they are picked. Actually I would mortise them in as if it was a real door, but screws alone would suffice. Remember though to compensate the backset if not setting the bolts and latches flush.
BTW, check with local locksmiths, they are always tossing factory prepped displays in the trash. We just chucked away a load of Schlage ones. Free for the asking.

My Dad used to make me do actual lock installations in 2x4 wood, including as Cledry said, mortising in the latch. Once you can do a nice job on an old 2x4 you are ready to install in a real door

That's very cool, I've always wished I could get a Euro door part stand, complete with all the multipoint locking stuff to practice picking on actual doors rather than in the vice which never feels quite as life-like. Love this wooden mock door setup, great work .
