The slimline picks are for Euro/Japanese locks but can be used on North American locks also. The regular set are slightly thicker and don't fit very well in the other types of locks. If your starting out and live in NA then just save the extra few dollars and buy the regular ones.

I have two pairs of southord picks and i love them both. i have the jackknife which is my least favorite of the two and i have the southord model pxs-17 set which is very durable and easy to work with. so far they are my favorite brand of picks.

I have a South Ord set, the rest of my picks are home made. I think the South Ords are a nice blend of decent quality while remaining affordable.
You may be able to find cheaper picks, but from what I've seen, they'd be just that - cheaper picks.

I too have a set of SouthOrd picks...a slimline set because the thicker picks wouldn't fit most locks I tried to pick(I live in the UK)...before I had my Southord set I had a Majestic Pickgun with the regular sized picks and sometimes use the picks just on their own if they'd fit...But the SouthOrd set is very nice!

those 'just too big' type picks are not picks at all, they are blanks your supposed to grind lockpicks out of, the shape is just to waste it down to approximate size.

I have had a couple of their stuff for years, and never had an issue, over use tends to break them, but honestly, anything will go to ground if you abuse your tools.

I was planning on going with Southord, but apparently they don't ship to Canada anymore and other lock pick places I find won't ship to people that aren't locksmiths

Hi,
I have the Southord slimline set and think they are brilliant, especially as i am just strting out and dont have the time (or experiance) to make my own set.
the only problem i have found (and would expect to find the same problem with other sets or even home made ones) is the fact that the handle digs into my fingers....i may just be holding the picks too tightly.
to combat this, the set did come with some plastic covers i could put on the picks but they were too tight and i can imagin they would reduce the sensitivity you would get.
overall i think they are really good and would recomend them to anyone.

I dont have any one SouthOrd set, but rather I've bought the picks that I feel I will want to use. I have about 11 tools all together (2 tension wrenchs, 7 picks, a set of auto jigglers, and a gas cap key + other crap like tweezers )
This is all I use, and they've held up really well. They're a bit scratched here 'n' there, but overall they're good quality.
Because I'm in Australia, the shipping hit me hard, so I got a few mates together and we all ordered together, and split the shipping.

Artemis007 I'm from Ontario too and I just bought some Southord's from http://www.lockpicks.com no problem. I think when buying from these stores in the USA you only need some kind of credentials if you live in the USA. International buyers don't have to.
