button you pushed to reply to this thread, will let
you ask a new question.



Although there is no such thing as a stupid question if
you don't know the answer,
you should use the search feature on this site before asking
because we have probably answered that question today, the day before
and the day before that, because people don't search, therefore
they ask stupid questions and get stupid answers.

Be warned that if you ask a question that we consider
plain lazy or stupid, you will quite likely be flamed by
some members here.

The quality of your question will give a better answer as well.

Have a good read of the FAQs section and do a search for:
MIT guide to lockpicking. If you then still have any questions, feel free to ask.

You have full access to this site except the Advanced section which
will probably be way over your head anyway if you are not a locksmith
or been a serious hobbyist for a long time.

This issue has already been addressed many times. Don't take this as an insult or a way around your question. People may start floobing*, thats natural when questions have been asked many times...

*Floobing - good humored, teach them the rules, noob flaming - get used to this term, because it happens alot.

hi everyone. I am new to this site (duh) but I am a veteran of supraforums.com and am therefore familiar with searching, reposts (I'm assuming that the repost police have a precinct here), and the term "stfu n00b." I used to be decent at opening simple locks (like the kind commonly found on door knobs) and I've never met a padlock that I can't open in less than about 30 seconds, and I can usually get a deadbolt if given enough time. my friend billy borrowed my picks a while ago (fsck you if you're on here, give em back I know you have them) and so I need some new ones, but I want to get back into it because I really enjoy it and cute girls who lock themselves out of their house/dorm room/apartment/etc. always like people who can pick locks.

Not a precinct per se, more of a loose club.... The Enforcers.
And the term we use here is "floobing".

Deadbolts are basically the same as the others you've mentioned. They're all pin cylinders (barr some padlocks). Deadbolts simply require more tension to get the bolt moving. Uhhh..... 30 seconds? We need to send you some decent padlocks then. I've got an Abus you can borrow.

I just returned from Defcon, enjoyed LPcon and decided to check out the website. I've been messing around with locks since I was a kid-figured out how to pick a cheap (warded) paddlock with two nails. I bought some picks a few years ago and although I don't practice enough, I do enjoy it. Anyway, great site and I look forward to reading more.
