hi i'm new....and i have 3 master locks i foudn that i'd like to get open. what's weird is that 2 of them look like this:
http://www.holcombscatalog.com/images/e ... 521500.gif
and one looks like this:
http://www.ecrm-epps.com/Expose/V4_6/Ta ... 20Lock.jpg

the second one has a silky smooth wheel.

well there are two methods i've found and neither have worked (maybe i did them wrong)
this one:
http://forums.hypography.com/watercoole ... -lock.html

and this one (seems more logical):http://www.sahaskatta.com/html/hacks_2.html
the first two numbers are found by determining other numbers that have the same remainder as the third when divided by 4.

so my question is: which of these are "supposed" to work? i was sitting here for like 20 minutes solid, determined to open this stupid lock! i have another one that i have a code to and i'll try these both on that one.

Hola

I'm srm. I'm a teacher who has always been interested in locks and picking. I've been here a couple of weeks...but never noticed this thread.

I recently enrolled in the F-B course. I'm chompin' at the bit for it to arrive.

Nice to meet you all,

hi all, i joined about a week ago. i am new to lockpicking but i feel i am getting better at it. i,ve made a few picks and have been able to pick 2 master padlocks and a 5 pin mountain security padlock. i also picked my backdoor lock. but i only got the mountain secturity lock opened once and after trying to pick it again for 2 days i cut it open. i now realize that mountain security padlocks are a peice of crap.

Hi all.

Spent all my working life in the motor trade and have come to the conclusion that I'm just to good for all that nonsense :!:

Have been contemplating a move to locksmithing for some years, and now I'm dipping in a tentative toe.

Really looking forwards to learning plenty from you guys and maybe sticking-in the odd two penn'orth of my own occasionally.

Regards,
Vince.

:) Hi

I picked up lockpicking as a new year's resolution this past year and it was one that I actually wanted to do. I've always wanted to know how, but never got into it. I was watching a lot of movies and my month-long roommate was perpetually locking himself out of the apartment, in addition, I have a great-uncle who is a retired locksmith. All my ducks were in a row, so I picked it up. I bought a regular Jacknife and some warded picks. The supplier charged too much (it was a $13.54 order, but they charged me $1354.00 on my debit card.) It was really bad and a week later and getting to know people at the supplier by name, i got all the money back and they gave me a 62 piece set for free. I've bought a few padlocks and some dead bolts. I've got pretty good at Kwikset, Weiser and other cheap locks. I've moved on to Schlages and Masterlocks which are a challenge. I just wan to learn some more and hone my skills. Also, as a college student, I wanted to know how to help others get into their locked apartments and cars. I checked with a few cops I knew before buying any stuff. For my law class, I had to pick a law and write a report. I basically chose the closest thing to lockpicking i could find and found out that technically, it's legal, just suspicious. Anyway, that's me and I look forward to learning more.

Have studied the technique and theory of picking for a while, but just ordered my first pick set, looking to get really into it now.
