Woot!! A canuck! welcome to the site!!
Heres a good place to start.
Go to a hardware store, buy a cheap deadbolt, and learn to pick it using DB's exercises. Digital_Blue's Exercises
As for the picks, either order from our sponsor, http://www.lockpickshop.com, and get a set of beginner southords, and enter "LP101" as a coupon code to receive 10% of your picks, or make your own out of hacksaw blades, following Pyro's video Pyros Video
Welcome to the site!!

Second post. I picked my first lock after a friend introduced me to his rake and paddlock. I didn't think anything of it and forgot about it for some time. I stopped in a store and saw a lockpick kit, bought it, and pretty much picked it up by applying the knowledge in the back of my head I had seen online over the years. After I picked my first lock with a REAL pick (no raking) I was hooked and studied up alot more. Very interesting field

Hello everyone,
I'm from Montreal, and as a network security consultant, that also do information security audits, I have to rate my customer's physical security.
This led me to lockpicking as a hobby.
