Hi everyone. It's my first time here. I've been thinking about studying locks for a long time. Glad I found this place.

Hello.

Joined this site in the hopes of finding key stepping stones in helping my progress in lock picking. Recently was hired by a locksmithing wholesale company in Vancouver, and kind of have, no experience at all in the field. Their owner passed away during the Christmas holidays and needed someone to help out as their buisness is going through a rocky period. Anyhow, trying to learn things as I go along, and the art of understanding locks and bypassing their defences has caught my interest. I've obtained lock picks from work, but the guys there kind of are all so stressed out they barely talk to me, just the usual plastic conversational stuff to help the days go by, so I figured I'd look for a group of responsibile people to try and converse with. Anyhow... I really don't have much to offer, I can open basic locks, and I'm reading various guides that I've found here, which by the way I very much appricate. Maybe in Time I will be able to give some random advice, seeing as who I work for. We used to distribute Abloy, but, .. they just pulled their line from us not 15 days ago. A real shame, they had their line with the company for over 40 years I believe. I loved the lock, absolutly brilliant, .. sigh. anyways.. maybe I shoulda just said "hi" instead.

I would reccomed you to start with a safety pin,a hair pin or something like that.......Thies kind of tools helps you improvise when you reaaly need lockpicking...If you "tested" that maybe you should buy a simple set of tools...usually it conyains 5 pieces....

Hello everyone. I'm new to the site. I've been doing keying work for about 6 years now and have enjoyed it quite a bit. Most of my work is installing locks and door hardware but I like to key things. I found this site while trying to figure out a padlock.

New Kid On The Block

Postby MadeAboutIt » 30 Aug 2006 7:24

Good Day, Everyone. :D
I am new to this site and the art/crafting of becoming a Locksmith. I am in the process of obtaining my membership to the MLA. I am gaining experience-fitting locks for a friend who owns a construction company. When I receive my membership, I plan to sign up for courses. I have some questions that need answering, that is why I joined this site.
I look forward to picking your brains. Please excuse the pun.
Since writing this intro and not making the time to post it, some things have changed in my life as well as my goals. I have just received my membership to the MLA and have been working for myself, which has involved buying and selling cars. I have decided to set up my own business  in auto repossession and need even more questions answered, so I hope you people can help me :?:

New Guy

Postby Rickf » 1 Sep 2006 10:14

I found this site in search of better tools. Been picking on my own for long time using only home made picks, and self taught knowledge through logic, luck, (some disassembley required) and listening.

The video of "The Key" at the symposium has opened my eyes to the fact there are almost no limits to bypassing locks and rekindled my efforts to develope my abilities. Lots of good tips in threads. Hopefully I can pass on some of own experiences.

And remember........Locks are for dogs and kids! Security isn't a turn-key operation.
