Newbie...

Postby captaindave » 6 Sep 2006 7:59

Hi everyone,

Just joined the group. I have always had an interest in lock picking and decided that I should learn how to. Just purchased a small "pocket knife" pick set to start. So far I have been able to open a masterlock #140 with not much effort.

Have a small brinks brass lock that is driving me nuts  and plan to purchase a few more picks & locks to learn more.

I work in Baghdad and this skill should come in handy for some of my assignments...yes they are all legal.

locksmith training

Postby silverjunction » 6 Sep 2006 15:06

Sorry, but I'm a newbie. I did a search and couldn't find this info so thought I would ask if anyone has an opinion about the locksmithvideoschool? I know the claims of making you a full-fledged locksmith in 30 days are pure bull, but has anyone taken this course, and if so is it worthwhile?

hello

Postby mr_cellophane » 7 Sep 2006 2:04

hi all. i've always been interested in how most things worked, but never really tried to pick a lock until my girlfriend locked us out of the apartment. desperation is a great motivator, right? went to eckerd, bought a package of bobby pins, and twenty minutes later we were in. ya'll should have seen the look on her face(and mine). it just so happened that i had stumbled on the mit guide that week. anyway, i'm hooked. still need to get a set of real picks, but i'm getting pretty consistent with the bobby pins, even though there's no subtlety in them. great site, by the way.

Greetings folks!

Looking forward to building my skills!

P.S. I used this Pheniox's recommendation and purchased the MPXS-14 pick set from lockpickshop.com

10% off too! Thanks Pheniox, and Thanks lockpickshop.com!

Postby KAdriance3 » 7 Sep 2006 14:09

What's up guys? Just saying hi and saying I'm looking forward to learning everything I can: Key entry, combo locks, anything you can get into, I want to know. Hopefully everyone will help me as much as possible. I've learned a few locks on my own. Mostly lock on desks and door locks, just little stuff. Definately want to know more.
