Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.

If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).

Cheers,

Hey folks, I bought a 9 peice lockpick set yesturday and have been having some fun. So far i've been able to pick some simple locks and I can open a Tri-Circle 263 lock using a jaggedy pick (i think its a rake) but not by doing it pin by pin yet.

Hoping to learn more from this forum :)

Well, I'm a newbie to the site. I've always been interested in lockpicking but haven't gotten around to learning it. It hasn't really seemed like a practical thing for me to learn. But as a beginner car mechanic there have been a few times where it would have been nice to be able to open a car door that a customer locked the keys in without having to get my boss to open it.

Well more importantly it seems like it would be fun. I don't expect to be able to pick a car door lock anytime soon. But even opening a padlock might be a satisfying thing to do.

Thanks for have this site open to the public.

Hello all.

Started slim jiming and picking in my law enforcement days.

Now I own rental property and pick or bump as necessary.

I rekey and repin.

Anything to save a little money and time and not have to destroy a window or a door because my idiot renter changed locks.

A Big Thank You

Postby thimu » 1 Nov 2006 2:56

Hello,

I usually dont post on forums but felt that after the day I had today I should at least introduce myself here and extend a big thank you to all for such a great site and for the work put into it. Spent most of the day in the cardiac services area of the local hospital having a number of tests done. After seeing a few folks get the bad news and their reactions to said news I started freaking out, so to calm my nerves I pulled out a MasterLock No3, a tension wrench and a slimline W rake. I know that the masters1-15 are crap but Im a noob and this lock has been giving me nothing but trouble for a few days now. In searching the site I found bits of advice on the proper way to approach it, one of which was to try and rake it in the counter clock wise direction. I took a deep breath held the lock and tools with the least amount of preassure and tension and after a few seconds of raking, the thing opened.(The Zen of Pick Fu) I was so happy that I almost jumped out of my seat. I did it over and over just to prove to myself that it wasnt a one time fluke. Then I did the same thing with the No.5 that I had as well.
I could not believe it. Hell after a while I had nurses betting me that I couldnt do it again and checking to see if it was a trick lock. Well now Im addicted and thermite is great stuff,LOL. Thank you again to all the lock smiths, pros and novices alike. Your dedication has helped turn a rather crappy day into a happy one. I may never post again but rest assured that I will always be reading, learning and picking, Oh and using the search function. Thanks again.
