I'm fairly new to lock picking but I have to say that it is really a cool feeling to defeat something made to stop you. I got my tools from Amazon.com but they still list them but sat they are not available at this time. Legalities I assume. I also got a set of car entry tools but i have to admit that car lock mechanisms are a little bit of a mystery to me. I look forward to learning from the more skilled people who contribute to the forum.

Hello,
I just subscribed to this forum. So here's my first message. I'm from the Netherlands and I'm a locksmith. I work on home security, High Security Locks, safes, mostly anything with a key on it. I hope to contribute and learn from you all.

New in 2008!
I came across the site 'in search of'. I read threads for 2hrs, and thought I'd better become a member! LoL
I am currently taking a online study for Locksmith. And have various reasons for learning the trade.
At 48 yrs old and female...I think it's a good way to exert some mental and physical mojo. LoL

I actually joined the site a few days ago, but didn't find this thread until now.

Anyway, I live in Atlanta, GA and just got into lockpicking as another interesting and non-mainstream hobby. I enjoy the puzzle-solving aspect and also the worksmanship on the finer tools. I haven't tried making my own picks yet, but I've been watching some video and look forward to trying it out sometime.

ok well My name is Ethan and im brand new well kinda i found this thread about 5 hours after i had registered. I have no background in Lock Picking except the one time that i picked my front door with some dental floss a small nail and something i found inside a key assembly that resembled a tension wrench. I used the dental floss to create tension tieing it to the small nail then placing it under the bottommost "key guiding thingy" pulled hard to the left and one by one brought the pins up it turned it opened i was excited that day i became a fan of this art.

i have a 17 peice set from southord the one with the fancy handle, and some vinyl sleeves.

I have never used picks before and have so many really dumb questions about picking so i figured i would find a place to get help and help others so here i am

If you made it this far thank you for your time and happy new year

Good to meet everyone

First off I'd like to say hey to everyone and that I'm astounded at the quality of posts and threads in this forum. I've been reading the threads in the forum for the past week or so. I work in the security field, so any security related areas interest me. I've always been interested in lp'ing and need another hobby to give me an excuse to extend my tool collection. I live in the Houston area if there are any other lockpickers in this area. I didn't find any references to a lockpicking group in Houston, but who knows I might be able to start one. Can't guarantee monthly meetings or anything, but it'd be nice to meet and trade tricks and information.

Ahoy! I guess I've been a member of this site for a while, but I am going to try to post and interact more now. Except that school might try to c**kblock me from my now budding hobby. Let's see.. I started up picking about a year ago, with varying levels of activity. The most advanced lock I've picked is a Brinks . . . aw hell, I can't tell which kind it is, but it's some blue weather resistant lock with two spools in the back (four pins), and I've made a handful of tools ever since the beginning, but I'm just now expanding to materials other than hacksaw blades.

Um, I'm still in High School, hopefully I can eventually get an LSI chapter set up in my area in my lifetime. Hopefully you guys will be seeing me every so often... studentship is kind of limiting my moneys funneling ability toward getting locks. You guys have a über fantastik shin-dig going on here, and I wish LSI er....I guess it's L.I now, will really jump up in popularity. Greetings from an Oklahoman Asian! :D
Believe.

Hi! I have always found locks interesting but never pursued it. In November we were robbed and the thieves took a full set of keys. So we had to get all the locks changed that day.

I knew it should have been possible to get them re-keyed, but we didn't think there was a locksmith in our town. Since then we have been unable to find any locksmith at all in the entire country of Belize!

I ordered a SouthOrd 20 pc. pickset and have had some success with Kwikset deadbolts (had several of them from the locks that were changed), a couple of Best Value (easy), a Master padlock, and even managed a Phillips 4-pin with some security pins.

I just enrolled in Foley-Belsaw so I guess I'm here to stay. Happy New Year everyone!

Hello everyone. Glad I found this site. I've been a maintenance tech for awhile, so I've changed out, rekeyed, mastered, and drilled alot of locks. At the new place I work, one of my coworkers has a Southord set of picks that I started playing with in the shop and found that I have a knack for picking. "You're in the wrong business," he said. Since, I've been interested in everything lock related. I ordered the Peterson "The City" set from lockpickshop.com, using your coupon code (thanks!) and it should be here today. Woo hoo! I def want to take the Lockout Specialist course and maybe the FB course (still not sure about this one.) Was salivating over LSS on Amazon until I read on here that there were 3 levels of it (would like to hold out for the Locksmith level.)

I have 3 cylinders set up for Digital_blue's excercise (lots o' practice locks at work :D ). 3 , 4, and 5 pin. We have Yale 6 pin, Defiant, Kwikset and EZ set, some Schlages and tons of different padlocks and mailbox locks to practice on.

Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I'm psyched. Already appreciate you guys alot from just reading. And some of the posts are hilarious. I lol alot.

Hello everyone at Lockpicking101. I am from Minnesota and am a typical IT geek and have been for the last 12 years. I love puzzles and a co-workers asked if I had tried lock picking. The though had crossed my mind over the years but had dismissed it as being only from the pro's. Well, I have finally decided to try it out.

I have been trolling the forums here for about a week now and am just amazed at how much information this forum provides for newbies like me and that there is a real sense of community here. I have yet to see a REALLY bad post that wasn't helpful or entertaining in some way.

I have ordered the SouthOrd 14 piece set but have been anxious to try picking so I went to Target and picked up a TSA 001 Master Lock to try. And low and behold in about 2 minutes, with just a bent up paper clip, I got it. My first (yes I know, very easy) lock has been picked. I was/am excited.

So mark another member down who will has become addicted to picking and I hope over time I can contribute as much as some of the senior members here have. Thank you guys.
