I have seen Folger Adams jail stuff. Keys and cyls are pretty much oversize Yale 8 (at least 2x).

LEO's have discretionary power. If you look like Mr Honest Citizen, aren't acting stupid or trespassing or generally in the wrong place, you might even get away carrying a gun with no CCW. If you are caught with a small amount of crack, they will hang all kinds of things on you so it's harder for you to bargain out. Then you get to play "my lawyer can beat up your prosecutor."

I've always taken this to be a case of 'Don't be a dick to a cop.'
What are you doing that they are searching you anyway? and why do they open up your pick case? If they see a few picks and a practice lock or two, and you politely explain your hobby, I'm sure the results will be very different than if they find your picks, a few pairs of latex gloves, a balaclava and a crowbar.
