Hello, I am new here...and very new to lock picking. I am working on my skills of spp locks with spools, serrations and other security features. I ordered one of those clear 5 pin practice locks from a site with spool pins...hope to master that then do it with something I can't look in. Warded and tubular locks are also very interesting to me, but i'm going to get better at what I am doing now before I go there.

I've just recently started lockpicking, but I've been interested in it for a long time. The first time I picked a lock was yesterday when I picked the lock on the flammables cabinet for the physics teacher because he didn't have a key. Unfortunately, now I can't pick it again to lock it back up, =( so I'm trying to learn more about lockpicking.

I've actually been coming to this site for about a week now, reading various articles and finally decided to become part of your community. I have very little lock picking experience( a few old no-name cylinder locks i found in my basement) but I'm starting to get the feel for it. This forum has already been very helpful and I look forward to swapping knowledge with you guys.

I recently found this board & wanted to introduce myself.

My background is in chemistry but I have broad interests in most areas of technology.

Mechanical locks & their vulnerabilities are of special interest to me as I believe that they represent an obsolescent technology. Obsolescent is different than obsolete. Mechanical locks are here to stay for the forseeable future but I feel that their use will be continually eroded by the increase use of biometric keys & electromechanical locks. It will be interesting to watch developments in this area.

Greetings, I've been reading the forums for about a month now. I finally decided to say hello. I've been studying locks for since the beginning of August. I took up the hobby after visiting the LockPicking Village at DEFCON. So far I love it. I've been purchasing used locks from a local locksmith and also from yard sales (mostly for about $0.25 or so as they don't have keys - sweet deal). I started out with bobby pins and worked out a few locks. I then became hooked and purchased a 16 piece set and a few other items from lockpicktools.com (really liking the LRCH). The info I get from this site is awesome. This is a great forum. Thanks.

I'd also like to add that I am a student majoring in computer science with interest in digital forensics. I work as a programmer and my 2nd job (yes two jobs and school, economy) is answering call box phones.

A big hello from across the 'Pond'.

I'm from England, UK and i'm hoping to start a locksmith training course soon. Only trouble is, the cost, just over £1200 for a 5 Day residential course. That's a heck of a lot of Dollars !
