I've been picking crappy locks using improvised tools since I was five years old, often out of necessity. Finally decided to get serious about picking and stumbled across this site. All praise the Googlemachien.

Hi all. Just ran across this site and what a find!!! I've been playing with locks and locksmithing as a hobby for the past 10yrs. It's another one of the many hobbies that i have which means i'm not very proficient at any of them... I can pick a few locks and get around a few different locking devices but that would be about it, my practice time is limited "Kids"... I'm looking forward to reviewing your posts and furthering my Knowledge base..
Take care and Happy Picking

Hello everyone - Long time picker, first time poster...
I've been interested in NDE, hardened bolt hacking, whatever you want to call it for a long time now. I've been fortunate to have a background that has allowed me to professionally explore these skills a little, although never as much as I've wanted. Life moves in funny ways, and these are skills I haven't had reason to visit for awhile until recently.
I am the principal of a small research, training and manufacturing co. specializing in tools for personnel recovery, wilderness and tactical medicine, and related concerns. We do a lot of work with clients within the defense industry, as you might imagine, and specialize in fielding unique requests for equipment. We are a real life "Q branch" for you J. Bond fans, save we're a private group and not tied down to one government entity, anarcho-capitalism for the win.
A clients needs have had me revisiting my old hobby, doing research for them and rekindling my own interests. I'm suddenly sitting at my desk, far too late in the evening, enjoying an adult beverage and playing with one of the suddenly giant pile of locks in front of me. It's good to be back.
I'm looking forward to learning from y'all!

'lo, all. I've been reading for a couple weeks now; I just acquired basic picks. Studying mostly because I've locked myself out of my dorm five times this semester, and it gets a little inconvenient. Never picked a real lock before, but I've played with some simple things. NJ.

Hello all. I am glad to be a part of such a great community. I have been perusing through the forums for a while now and decided I should join. I have been toying around with the idea of locksport for a while and finally made the plunge. I am as novice as they come but a dedicated learner.

After reading some how to's and looking at diagrams of tumbler locks I decided to give it a stab. From reading around I went and bought a 'defiant' deadbolt and started playing around with the cylinder. I read that these were really insecure and boy did I prove that. With absolutely no experience I was able to get it open with a paper clip and metal part of a uniball pen.

Just getting my feet wet but I see a long future in my new hobby. I have ordered the PXS-14 (Southord) from the lockpickshop.com and look forward to years of learning!

G'day all

I'm pretty new to lockpicking, I got into it initially just because I'm very inquisitive and love learning how things work and taking them apart. Lockpicking kind of sprung from my interest in how locks work after my dad showed me a cutaway of a lock about 7 years ago. Since then I've been poking my nose into it on occasion, I've made my own picks and have a small collection of various padlocks, deadbolts and so on. I hope to meet some like-minded people in my area (Gold Coast, Australia) via this website if anyone is out there!

It has been so long since I joined the site and posted anything I feel like I should reintroduce myself. I have about a years worth of experience as a locksmith but recently got the bug to start picking up picking again. I thought throwing up some posts would help me get back into the groove. It feels good to be back.
