Hello gents (and ladies). I'm actually a student at OSU studying physics and engineering. I've been indulging myself with locks, and the picking and manipulating of such, for a few years now (since early high school). I figure picking is a good application of all those mechanics classes I had to take... good luck and happy pickings...

hi ive been picking locks for about 2 weeks thats all ive tried so far ive picked a cheap cashbox i found lying around i then bought a 30mm masterlock dont know what kind but its from the economy range and i can pick that in under 10 seconds every time now so i bought the 40mm lock from the economy range but i struggle to pick that it usually takes me anywhere from 10mins-1hr i worked out that i need very little pressure on the torsion wrench but other than that i know nothing and struggle to pick it. well thats all i have done so far and great forum it has been extremely useful keep up the good work

Excellent - sounds like a good progression so far. Read through the stickies in some of the bigger sub-forums to get some great practical advice for starting out. "DB's lockpicking exercise" in particular, is a great place to start.

Just thought I'd post a quick hello! I've been playing about with Lock Picking for a number of years, but only recently have I decided to actually try getting myself a few decent sets of picks and playing about, so hoping this site could help me develop my "n00b" skills. So hello LP101! :)

After calling a locksmith recently, for the first time in my life I was interested in something. I have zero knowledge about becoming a locksmith and would like to know where to start. At least with books and/or courses that can offer basic introduction to locksmithing.

Hi everyone well im new to the site. I have been browsing around here for the last couple days. As for my lockpicking i am not so new but i am in no way an expert. I have picked many brinks high securities (4 spools), ace high securities (4 spools) master #140, #150, #1, #3, pretty much any padlock i have owned lol. Today i made a breakthrough and finally picked my ACE american core knock off padlock that has been bothering me for awhile. Its got serrated key pins and one serrated driver pin with four spools hybrids. I finally got it today and im looking forward to getting help from others here. Thanks everyone,
Trever

Hello All, I have just found this site. I have been in locksmithing for about 42 years now. My Father, Swede, (RIP) began teaching me as he learned the trade when I was just 5 years old. We prompted each other to be active in our local Associations. I am a Past President of LADC, the Locksmith Association of the Washington DC area. I have been a contractor, sub-contractor for many firms in the DC area. I not only pick lock cylinders but utilize cylinder bypass methods if and when prudent as well. I have vast experience in providing and defeating locking systems. Thank you for letting me join and I look forward to helping in any way I can.

Hi Everyone,
Im 33 and from the uk, i have been lockipicking for around a year now and have picked many locks in this time, yale, era's, ge-ge's, iseo's etc etc, although i have not had much practise on the mortice side of things i am startiing to get into this side also as i started off in the euro cylinder side as the mortice lock although not a thing of the past by no means but due to upvc been more popular these days i thought it would be the best place to start. Always had a fascination with the working of locks and how to manipulate them so its good to be aboard with such a wealth of knowledge by the looks of things will only help me in my dream of setting up one day as a professional locksmith.
Darran.

Hi there. I'm new to this forum and lock picking so I'm hoping to learn a bit. I've picked a couple of locks (most of them padlocks) but nothing big yet. From what I've seen of this forum it's pretty good so I'm happy to be registered :)
