Hi all! I'm new-ish to the forums. I have been reading here amongst other places for a few weeks now. Originally liked the idea of learning how locks work, and the picking part primarily to learn myself some patience in life :)
Decided that it seems like an interesting past time, so i have purchased a small 5 piece picking set from SouthOrd, a Bird BK029 5 pin tumbler, and have a hobby vice already.
All i have todo now is read up a bit more on removing pins from this lock to start off basic and im well away :)
Hope that you guys can help me buy some good shiat ;)
We certainly can. Try this, for the best there is:- http://evolve.zoo.ox.ac.uk/evolve/SHiAT.htmlI hope your not too disappointed with it being free though. Seriously now, please do not try and avoid the swear filter, this is a family orientated forum. Maybe now would be a good time to read through the rules by clicking viewtopic.php?t=715

Hi gents/lasts?, new to the forum and would like to say hi to all. Been lockpicking for 4 hours ( reading the techside for a couple of weeks). TodayTook delivery of : 22 Pc slimline southord. 6 feather wrenches Tibbe pick credit card pickset vag tool 2 bump keys goso 9 Pc euro 5 pin rim cutaway euro 5 pin cutaway 2 spool pins(abc manufacture ) euro 6 pin cutaway 4spool 2mushroom pins 3 padlocks tri circle abloy chub
The feeling I've just had when I SPP the Rim open was fantastic but I could see the pins ,which made it easier so taped over the pins and it went in 2 mins !!great and full of fun I got the 5 pin out , took my time and with a bit of scrubbing to push the security pins up it went -my head exploded haha. So thetape went on that and hey presto and a few quick pulls of the snake pick in an outof the lock direction - boom it opens- my head once again explodes in a euphoric rainbow lol. Now remember I've seen the pins and then taped over em on both locks , closing my eyes as I pick helped to visualize where I was in the lock ( tip for other newbs). A light touch but occasional bit of force when pick snags is needed but I found it's the tension that's the big issue. Be lighter than you think possible and then some, that stopped the security pins snagging b
Ime just on the tri circle padlock now , it's the first lock I've not seen inside before picking. Ole let you know how that goes in the next post.
Oh by the way if you knew how much I paid for the kit you de be surprised, I can't say which shop but when you order from a place let em know your a begginer, the people I've spoken to were fantastic and it's more than one place which leads me to believe that generally everyone involved are a "good lot".
So keep it real people ime of to try the tibbe , vag and a bit of bumping. Tip- get practice car locks from breakers yard and door locks of local builder/joiners. Open up as many locks as you can and see how they work it's a big help.

Hello, a very nice place you have here. I am new to the trade, having just completed the Foley Belsaw course. I was lucky enough to acquire a set of Reed Code Books (Vol. 1 thru 12) for a halfway decent price, I think. ( $400 USD) And a copy of InstaCode 2008 thrown in. Anyway, I hope to learn a lot, and meet some very great people here. See you later.... And be warned, I will be asking a bunch of questions.

Hello everyone I am new to Lockpicking101 forum, and must say I am quite pleased, and impressed with the information you folks are sharing here. I recently landed a job with a local locksmith company so I am very new to this trade, and I am looking to learn as much as I possibly can by frequenting the forums. After experiencing a fair amount of time at my job , I should be able to contribute to the forums , and would be more then happy to share my knowledge and experiences with the rest of you.
For now the learning begins and this site will be of great help getting me started.
Bye for now. Keep the good info comin
