Hi there, i've been playing about with padlocks since I was at school, and over the past couple years I've been taking it more seriously and have now amassed a fair collection of locks some with and some without keys, hardest one i've opened so far is a heavy brass bodied yale padlock........only managed it twice though :(
recently got a silver bodied steel square shaped one made by KASP with a pin as opposed to a shackle......it's prob impossible to pick!

Hi There; My name is North, and I am a lockaholic. Well, not yet, but I am working my way up to it. I first saw this site a few years ago, after a co-worker started the Foley-Belsaw course. I had every intention of doing the same, but life got in the way. I am now back and looking at the F-B, PCDI and ICS courses, trying to decide which one to take. It is pretty much narrowed down to FB or PCDI, but the latter is way more expensive. I have now ordered picks, a dvd or two and practice locks and hope to have them within a couple of weeks. As I live 200 miles North of the Arctic Circle (Ice Road Truckers territory), it does take some time to get things here.
I have done a fair amount of reading both on this site and stuff I have downloaded or got from my local library. The biggest problem reading stuff here is that it is way too easy to get off-track. I see something about a key machine and check out ebay to see what is available. I see a mention of ALOA and off I go to read about them and their convention and what it would cost me to get there and what hotels are in the area and ... well, you get the picture.
I figure I should be just about done reading the stuff I am interested in on this site in about 3 to 3-1/2 years.
I sure am glad I have a job where I can sit around and surf / read / study / play for an hour or so at a time.
Looking forward to finally getting the tools and locks and stuff.

lol Well thank you Pheniox. Well, I'm Jarcin (Don't really know the forums comfort level with real names. I mean if its all go for it I'll use it, but its just one of those things ^^). I'm in North Carolina and I just been looking for a neat little hobby to show of every now and then, maybe make a part time/free time career out of.
Done a little bit of research here and there and just ordered that beginners lock picking set with the booklet "Easy Pickings". Been a bit nervous but its one of those re-occuring things so I figure it has to be good to be showing up EVERYWHERE.
Really not much left to it. Done a little bit of state research and discovered that it's illegal to be caught with them in this state but I figure you can at least own them in your own house or garage. Looked into locksmith certification through the state which seemed pretty cool.
Ok THAT should be about it ^^
Anywho, can't wait to see what I can learn. Should be a good time

Been playing with picking for a few months, done about 10 to 15 locks.
Decided to sign up for the forum when my girlfriend that has little to no interest in my new hobby was prob getting sick of hearing about pick sets, and pad locks. :)
