Hello I am kinda new to the field I have picked most master locks and thats what led me to find a job with a local locksmith. I am in a course learning the trade and will hopefully be done in a few months. I am open to any and all suggestions and knowledge about the field. So thats me in a nutshell if you have any questions just ask.

Just recently joined. I'd like to really get into lock picking as a hobby. It seems like it's definitely one of those life skills that can't be matched. Hopefully I can find others in my area to meet up with and share ideas. Anyone who wants to chat and collaborate, I'm open to bounce off ideas and just talk in general. Hit me up, I'd love to talk.

Hello to all pickers.
Newbie here. Got sparrows starter kit. Picked ilco 570 at work and a small master padlock.
It feels awesome when that lock finally turns for the FIRST time.

Howdy all. looking forward to becoming a regular on here :)
Got my first set of picks the other day (think they're a cheap set (Goso brand?) but figure I'll take what I can get for now. It's a birthday present from my Mrs :) I get a few locks also later today so I guess I'll start looking into that beginning lesson from DB (Thanks for that!)
Anyway just wanted to say hi, and hope to talk to a few more of you in the future.

Hi, I'm totse... and this is my banal introduction.
I'm 18, I'm Australian and I - like everyone else - would like to learn lockpicking. Before, like, a fortnight ago, lockpicking was this recondite talent, which I definitely couldn't possess. Probably from a lack of thought on my part and its un-life-like portrayal in movies. But anyway, I discovered how practicable lockpicking was by chance and it really got my attention. I've spent most of the past two weeks reading about lockpicking, when I should've been studying for my final exams. Now that they're are over, I'm free to actually get started. Today I made a rather mediocre pick from an old hacksaw blade, and tension wrenches from windshield wiper inserts. So far I've picked all the newish locks on my house, a few times over for each. Inexpertly SPP'd. The older locks, however, seem kind of 'sticky' and I couldn't pick those. I also picked a little Abus padlock and a similarly sized Lockwood, once each, a feat which I haven't been able to repeat... yet.
Does anyone know where I could get free locks/padlocks?

I do have a 42+ year old Sargent and Greenleaf 8088 combination lock that was given to me as a child. I recently found it in a junk box with the original instructions. It is locked with the change key hole open, and 10-20-30 aligns all 3 disks. It will not open. I haven't seen it open since I tried to change the combination 42+ years ago. The change key is missing. The instructions say it can be recovered if the change key hole is open. Any ideas? Will a 8077 change key work? Information seems scarce on the 8088. Thanks in advance.

Greetings!
I work for a Wholesale Distributor in the USA. We're involved with security related products and safes for commercial, residential and automotive applications.
If any Mod or Admin wants specifics about where I work, I'll welcome your PM. Anyone else please don't ask. I'm not here to sell.
I field questions and offer solutions to professional locksmiths, and receive new product info on a daily basis. Although I'm not a lock picker, and I am rarely involved with hobbyists, I'm hoping that my 15 years experience and desire to help people will benefit others.
Plus, I'll look forward to learning some useful stuff along the way.

What a great site! I’ve read a lot here before I registered myself. A lot of picking knowledge in one spot – it looks that you guys really know your picking! I hope I’ll learn a lot here – and most of all get a lot of inspiration! Hopefully I can contribute to the discussion as well.
A short presentation of myself: Live in northern Europe. I’ve been picking on and off (mostly off…) for the last decade.
Favorite lock – impossible to say, but I like the Tri-Circle 265 (don’t ask me why!)
Lock I hate – the Lemen High Quality Padlock, because it’s so boring to pick. If you’ve tried it you’ve noticed the strange key way!
Favorite technique – SPP
Favorite pick – the short hook
Well, that’s it for now folks!
