I'm new to the lock business. I work for a company that does commercial maintenance and I'm finding myself doing more and more with locks. Thought I would try this site to gain more knowledge on locks and their workings.

Just wanted to say hello here. I'm completely new to lockpicking and got interested in it a few weeks ago when I saw a video tutorial on shimming a master lock with part of a pop can. I tried it and it worked! So I want to learn lockpicking. Seeing that lock pop open was so exciting!

Hello, pleased to be a member of the site. The reason for joining is i have a maintenance contract with a local letting agency and am being asked more frequently to gain access to properties either due to tenants losing keys or moving out and not returning keys so locks have to be changed without causing too much damage, so hopefully can get the advice needed on the forum.

Hi everyone,
Im Ffojt. I live in Norway, and I have been interested in locks since I was a little kid, and recently I discovered the world and community of lockpicking. I have read a lot of theory over the past year, but I haven't really gotten much practice yet. I bought myself an easy-rekey cutaway cylinder and a 9-piece slim-line set from southord on LP-shop, and I've been playing with it ever since.
However, I recently realized that I didn't really have a feel for the pins at all, and I relied completely on the visual cutaway-part. I'm now starting over.
Is there any good guides on key-cutting out there? I know there are guides on impressioning, fitting keys to cylinders and such, but I miss a guide focusing on how to cut the key properly.

Greetings all.
This is a fantastic site with a ton of information. I just got my first pick set and practice lock, and I've already opened it in a 4-pin configuration using tips and advice on this site.
Looking forward to learning this new skill!

Hi! I just joined the forum. I'm new in lockpicking. Actually I started a few weeks ago, with some DIY tools. I'd like to learn more about lockpicking. I guess it is my new hobby.
Be happy!

Thought I'd finally register here, after being involved with lock picking for a year or so. I've got a 19 piece Southord pick set, but generally only use a select few. I imagine us all to be that way. I started on model 3 Master locks, and various unused deadbolts. My current rival is the American lock 5200, due to the serrated secutiry pins D:
Anyways, nice to be on here.

Hey guys I'm also new to lock picking. Just got my set last week but i've been reading on here for about two weeks and just got around to joining yesterday. This website is what convinced me to start this hobby and I absolutely love it. I got some practice locks off of ebay, but they're all really easy now. Any suggestions as to what I should buy for practice?

Hi
Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I've been recently getting into lockpicking, mostly using homemade picks. Now I want to get into it a little more professionally. Its still all for fun.

Hello all, this is kind of a new experience to me. Lockpicking is something that i have been interested in for a long time but only recently began pursuing as a hobby. I blame video games. I enjoy the challenge that each lock presents and the reward of feeling the cylinder finally turn, or hearing that *click* It wasnt what i expected it to be. Much more difficult than i expected, but i think thats what draws me towards it even more. Like i said i like a challenge. Im still very new to all this and have come here to learn more. It may sound dumb, but i feel a real sense of freedom being able to pick a lock, like i can go anywhere i want to now :) I dont support anything illegal, but it sure feels nice.

Hello all,
I am new to this site, I started picking locks many years ago with a commercial pick set given to me by a locksmith friend. I've made picks as well not being satisfied with how the commercial sets felt. Fast forward many years and I have had little practice in the past 10 years and have a lot to learn. I appreciate all help and input.
