Hey everybody! I just signed up tonight. I have been reading some posts for a week or two and just thought this was a real interesting place! I've been in the construction trades for years but am now semi-retired and looking for an interesting hobby/part time thing.

I'm also a custom holster maker and I live in MN....

I chose my name because obviously, Minnesota and safe-cracker sounded better than "picker"...

Hope to get to know some good guys from here! I really would like to find some local guys who are willing to show some tricks and tips sometime!

My name is James Gatlin of Starke,Florida (no not the prison!)
I was reccently laid off of a construction job I've had for years. Now I am ready for something new so I enrolled in Foley Belsaw Institute of locksmithing. I am 45 and still learning new stuff. I need all the info I can get. This site is awsome!!

Glad I found this forum. I have a Sargent and Greenleaf lock (model 8088) that I got years ago while in the Military. I have the changing key and the changing key hole is open. I need to find instructions on how to reset the combination. Will do some searching and then post a question if I can't find the answer. cheers

Hello to all! I am a fifty-year old man who has had some success at picking locks for friends and family who have lost keys to their lock boxes, front doors, or locked their keys in the car. So when I discovered this site, I thought it might fun to learn how it's done properly. I wonder how I am going to come up with quality posts, but as long as I have time, I'll do my best to contribute.

Hello.
I've lurked for awhile here, I enjoy the site a lot. I will try to contribute what i can. I am a knowledge junkie, and enjoy a good challenge. Been picking for many years, mostly to help friends and through work (used to repo cars) now just to pass the time and practice. I am a long way from where i would like to be in the hobby. Thanks for putting this site together.

Hello,

I just joined today. I followed a link from http://www.lifehacker.com. This looks like a great site, I have always been interested in lock picking and never realized there were resources like this to learn.

I just ordered a basic kit from http://www.lockpickshop.com. I can't wait for it to get here.

I don't know if there are any local groups here. I live in East Texas. If someone knows of one, drop me a line.

Thanks,

Dax

Hello,
I'm 24 and a student at my local community college, studying electrical engineering and now we are on a chapter that includes AED's (for electronic locks, bomb-disarming, ect...). Would love to contribute, answer questions, and have some answered :)

Hello I'm new here been working as a locksmith for almost 18 and been certified for a year. I work at a very large hotel and trying to do side work for myself in the evenings and weekends. Went to the expo in Baltimore in May this year and someone there told me to check lockpicking101 out and so here I am. Thank you for letting me be here with ya'll.

Hello All, just joined.

Been thinking of trying out lockpicking for a while now. Already read the MIT Guild, the Easy Pickings book, and the Complete Guild by Eddie The Wire, but just reading books and only get you so far.

Still have some of the old door knob locks I can practice on once the SouthOrd PXS-14 set I ordered earlier today comes in.

Hi all. I stumbled upon this site while I was looking for locksmith courses (I thought it would be the only way to learn) now I have learned so much from going through this forum that I went to SouthOrd and bought a few picks that seemed to be highly recomended for begginers. I am impatiently awaiting their arrival.
I am compleatly new to lockpicking but not for long I hope :)
