Howdy.
I've been collecting locks and keys since I was 12 (so twenty years now). My father was a stationary engineer/locksmith, so I garnered a lot of info from him, but I've also been playing with locks and getting to know them through hands-on practice and research into manufacturers' and locksmiths' literature since then. I've always been particularly interested in ASSA cylinders (my high school used them, and I "harvested" many cylinders and took 'em apart and put 'em back together again), Medeco (particularly the Original product line, because my Medeco collections have been comprised mostly of them -- but Biaxial as well ... haven't gotten into M3 much as of yet), and Schlage original cylinders/keys in the restricted keyways (Reverse, Numbered/Paracentric and Quad), and Schlage Primus. Haven't done much exploring into Everest because the mechanism doesn't interest me all that much.
Long, long ago I studied my father's "Locksmithing for Facilities Engineers" and "Masterkeying for Facilities Engineers"-type manuals, but I've lost track of them, and I'm really sort of embarassingly rusty on the topic of masterkeying.
Cheers!

Hi everybody,
I just joined this forum and am here to learn from the experienced folks and hopefully one day that will include me so I can give back to this community. I have had an interest in lock picking for many years now, but just recently found this forum and decided to join. After reading several posts here I decided to join because the folks here seem like a very reliable source of lock picking information as well as other information for locksmiths. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to getting to know the rest of you.

Hi guys. I've been interested in picking and computer program cracking since I was 12, but never had the guts (or the funds) to buy or make picks. Now, 10 years later, you guys have inspired me to take the plunge into picking. I want to post my list of stuff I got, but the forum rules are making me afraid of getting banned for it. I was inspired by MolonLabe
Locks: 4 practice locks (2, 3, 4, 5 pins - easily interchangeable) 1 cut-away (6 pin - interchangable pins) a bag of extra security pins
Tension wrenches: 2 short 1 slim/double-headed european
Carbon steel picks: peterson gem - slender (government steel) peterson gem short hook half diamond peterson reach (falle style) double rake (snake or C rake) snowman
Total I payed $93.10, which I think was a great deal for what I got. It's a bit pricey to start up, but I've been wanting this for a while.

Hello everyone. I've been interested in locksmithing/picking for a while, finally got around to start learning and practicing. I'd like to become a locksmith at some point, but for now I'm just learning the skills in advance and as a hobby, cuz it's fun as hell. If there was Locksport in WA state iKd be overenthusiastic about that. Anyone here in the 509?

Gidday, down here in New Zealand. joined the middle of last year, after coming accross site . . .couldnt believe there was a site on lock picking, and that it was a sport !!.. Anyway, not in the trade - think it's a pretty closed shop in N.Z. have come back to pay a bit more attention to it after rushing my sister to the airport, starting up the car to warm it up, all her stuff in the boot, just jumping out to go get her, pushed the button to what i thought was opening / unlocking her side as I'm getting out . . . U KNOW what happened. . . Yep, doors are locked, motors running, clocks ticking, everyone is yelling. A fifth of a tank of gas later, a locksmith that didn't really seem to know what he was doing but still charged $150.00 and here I am .

Great to be here! Have worked with computer administration, network and security for almost 15 years but it's only this last vacation that I read a book on lockpicking and got hooked. I realised that one of my customers had invested tons of cash in firewall and network security, but had a simple wafer lock on the server room that could be picked by a cleaner in 30 sec. using a hairpin.
Anyway, looks like there are mindboggling amounts of information on this forum but I guess I'll just start out by lurking a bit.
Cheers,
Matti

Hi all- Just joined today... I'm a building supervisor for a apt. housing complex, new to the job I was kind of thrown in blind and figuring certain things out. My most challenging right now- figuring out to work, repair, repin Schlage Primus lock cylinders :) As anyone knows who has worked with these type of locks, they are fairly complicated and "considered" fairly high security. VERY complicated for a newbie :( I have over 500 of these locks throughout the building and I'm starting from scratch !! Wish me luck

Greetings Y'all!
I've been interested in lock picking for several years and have done a small amount of research on how more common locks function. Now, I'm looking to get a bit more serious about it and get my chops up to a semi respectable level.
