I run a company installing commercial doors and hardware. Part of my business includes replacing lock sets. I was looking up info on Locksmithing and discovered locksport. Very excited to learn from this community and look forward to being able to contribute down the road too!

Hello everyone,

I'm glad to be a part of the forum. I have been interested in becoming a locksmith for a good while now. I am currently working for an appliance repair company diagnosing high end residential appliances. The owner of the business has unfortunately had to relocate and can not keep the business. Which is giving me the opportunity to devote all of my time to this craft.

I plan on making a career out of locksmithing so I plan on being around the forum for a while. I am currently researching all of the different training that is available. I am also currently seeking an apprenticeship.

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum and the hobby. I bought a 4-piece pick set with torsion wrench and have been practicing on various locks in my house. I've gotten a few of them down, but some are more consistent than others ;) I have no plans of becoming a locksmith, I'm a scientist, but I like puzzles and lockpicking is like a puzzle. Also, I think it's just a very useful skill to have anyway.

following the prescribed rules for once and starting (posting) where requested.

joined due to recent interest/research in current (past 10 years) security advancements to physical locking mechanisms. taught myself how to pick 11 years ago during college in order to fine-tune spatial coordination and control in hopes of beneficial skills that would influence my aviation training and (current at the time) test subject in nasa piloting experiments. i worked at picking every lock i could get my hands on between then and now, but have never been incredible aggressive with training. I've purchased all but 2 pick tools, and prefer the time-saving use of others designs.

I currently use my skill-set of picking through the hobby of pinball restoration and repair by accessing or modifying the old locking mechanisms.

Thought I would stop by and introduce myself. I have picked locks going back to when I was in the Navy. I used to help guys that locked themselves out of their bunk lockers. I had two conditions; they could not watch and they had to sign a paper giving me permission. I was pretty lucky in getting the locks open, always used my own tools. I had never seen what real picks looked like, but now I know I had a basic hook and a rake. Had no idea what was happening inside the lock. I always wanted some real picks and to learn how to do it for real. I have finally done it. I have ordered and received a set, ordered the utlimate challenge lock, and have some good books and vids. Looking forward to learning and growing and participating on the boards.

New to the forums, and locksports. I've been lurking on the boards for about a week now and have managed to gather a pant load full of info from the board. I have a tone of stuff to learn. Mostly working on my tensioning and how the pins feel with and without it. I've managed to fluke open a master lock #130 with a paperclip shaped into a rake and damnd if that didn't get me hooked on this stuff.. I ordered a sparrow's kick start kit last week and got it today, just to get me started for now. LOL now i'm sitting here reading the board with that same master lock and my first real short hook.

Hey all. Just signed up. I love lockpicking because i just like beating locks, the challenge and the feeling when it finally turns. I'll be honest, my interest originally hailed from playing too much Morrowind in high school. Look forward to gleaning much information from this site.

Made my first lockpick practice board with 4 5-pin cylinders and picked three of them in less than 2 minutes but one took about 5 min to pick. Still wonder if I actually know a little what I'm doing or am I just plain lucky??
