Double talk?

What is with you guy? II posted a question about tubular lock picks and the guy shuts my post down. Like how else are u to pick a tubular lock except with a pick. They will talk about pick guns, impressioning, decoding, security pin compromise, and jiggler techniques but not about a lock as omnipresent as a radial faced tumbler lock? You lack consistency in their banter over there. Time to keep to myself again and persue this hobby alone. Intuition always did make for innovation in advancing my own skill set. Cheers !

it's because Tubular locks are used to secure vending machines.

Their house, their rules. You'd be annoyed if someone came into your home and ignored your house rules. You don't have to like it, but you should respect it. Reposting a whine is not respecting.

If you truly want to know the intricacies of tubular locks (offsets etc as mentioned in your first post), try reading "The National Locksmiths Guide to Tubular Locks" by Robert Sieveking. It will give you more info than most care to know.

I think it makes perfect sense. I didn't realize till today that tubular locks were one of the taboos, but when you start thinking about how they're normally used it makes perfect sense. Almost every tubular lock you'll come across in the wild is securing either guns or a respectable amount of unsupervised cash. They'd be a choice topic of conversation for someone learning to pick for nefarious purposes. I don't think anyone in the locksport community is interested in helping thieves learn how to be better thieves. Quite the opposite in fact. I think most locksport enthusiasts would love to see all the Masterlocks securing valuable stuff around the world vanish and get replaced with Abloys.

You must trace the line somewhere. There's a reason this forum has an advanced area. We don't discuss everything in the open forum.

Don't take things personally. And don't get offended if a moderator locks one of your threads.

Shutting down your thread was not an insult to you. It was complying with rules that you read when you signed up. It was also to prevent someone from giving information that is not allowed on the open forums. That would force us to move the entire thread into the advanced forum.

If you disagree with my actions, then take it up personally via PM, not on the public forum. Discussion of restricted topics on the open forum is not subject to negotiation. You will see that I locked another topic on tubular locks earlier today, for the same thing, too. It is nothing personal. Just keeping enforcement of the rules as even as possible.

On a side note, many people here are also on other lock sites, and we can see when someone bad-mouths us there, Pick-Fu. I mean Shifty1. You see, most of us old-timers on the sites know each other, too. ;)
