I read somewhere before a few years ago, i think it was in some type of lockpicking or locksmith trade book/publications which said that one of the most powerfull factors of physical security is pure public ignorance.
The possibility of picking and bumping compromising my safety never crossed my mind, even when I actually got my hands on a real pick set untill the founding of organizations like TOOOL or sites like these which openly shares security information. Hopefully it will soon create public awareness and educate people to buy better locks. But then if you live in counrty like the USA, being able to easily buy a convenient, low cost, low maintenence high security lockset might be a little far off since this country is so stubborn and unwilling to let go of some major archaic and outdated ideas and practices which resulted in us slowly and reluctantly adapting to the metric system for example. Manufactures might release locksets claiming to be "higher security" but they'll cheap out and most likely it wont be much different from what Schlage already produces, which will probably go on for a few years, giving the public a false sence of security once again just to shut us up and make a profit.
I think this will ultimately help give the authorities a wonderfull oportunity to completely outlaw tools and publications designed specificaly for lockpicking and bypass once this gets full media coverage here in the states even if people now possess the knowledge to create their own tools and know how to use them.
But in the mean time I'm going to "gear up" and take in as much knowledge as possible now if and when it may come to that.
