High Tech is a great set to start off with because it is much easier to use than car opening tool sets made by other companies. And their manual is way cheaper, around $40 to $50.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

i hate using those kinds of kits. I had one a few years back and never got the hang of it so i gave it away. every manufacture likes making it a little harder so im trying to find info an picking instead.

I currently use high tech tools top set but after dealing with them for a few years and all of their mistakes of double charging me and sending two sets at $400 each three months apart, missing tools in my updates, and simply not getting everything mentioned in the update package my next upgrade will be to go with Steve Young's kit and keep my "jiffy jack" style tool from the high tech set. Of course, this will be when I get to where I am doing more locksmithing work again which wont be for a while still.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!
