does anyone know where i can find one? the stile is 2.5 inches wide, the narrowest pushbotton exit trim i found was more than 3 inches. and it needs to be mechanical, no electricity involved. much appreciation

I believe simplex makes a narrow stile push button lock that would suit your needs. I don't recall the model number off hand but you can likely find it in your HLFlake catalog or on their website.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

I'm dubious about trusting some supposed locksmiths in NY and unfortunately this guy fits the bill.

There are a large group of scammers posing as locksmiths, but cannot seem to procure relevant information from many other industry sites. They will come here for help because less questions are asked here.

IMHO!

If you want to come check out my shop, youre more than welcome to pm me, since i dont think self advertisement is welcome here. if you want to learn more about these scammers, youre also welcome to contact me, i know all about them and even got into the business working for one of the companies, but i can say that i never cheated anyone. i just didnt make any money.. so i left and opened my own shop where i conduct a respectable and honest business. but anyway, its not like im asking for any sesitive information. i looked through catalogs, called one wholesaler, and couldnt find what i needed, so i figured id try my luck here as well.

Try not to take the doubts personally, these scammer locksmiths (Dependable, etc.) have made a very bad reputation for Israeli locksmiths not to mention locksmiths in general. Just keep doing honest work for honest prices and you won't have to worry about skeptics because you will have formed a loyal clientele base which will only grow. I think you're looking for something like the Glynn-Johnson HL-6 Push/pull latch 2"3/4 width (Page 333 in TND catalog vol.4, no.1) However for a vertical rod I think you might be stuck using the traditional panic bars like a Von Duprin . If your customer really want's more of a button and doesn't want to go the access control route you could provide and install for them an Adam's Rite lock and the Glynn-Johnson paddle. I'm sure there are other options though, you should run your problem by your supplier and see what they have to offer

theres already a pushbar with a concealed rod installed. it uses the dor-o-matic auxiliary package for 1990 series devices. anyone know if theres a mechanical pushbutton lock to go with that?
