Common Sense and Collecting Money

This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

Common Sense and Collecting Money

Postby The Speed of Dark » 27 Oct 2009 23:10

A few weeks ago I received a call to pick someone's lock to their apartment. When I arrived no one was there so I started to fill out the paper work. As soon as I completed the paper work the client arrived. This client obviously had advanced skills in losing their clothes while dancing around a pole. They showed me proof that they were in fact the resident to the apartment so I began to pick the lock. About 30 seconds later and I was open.
My client however seemed to be "short" on the money she agreed to pay and was wondering if she could do "anything" in order to compensate.
I said: "Mam! I could knock $5 off of the price for you"
"Deal!" she replied and whipped the money out, without a problem.

My advice to all Locksmiths - Ethics 101: Don't take bribes to do a 'special job'. It could cost you your license, get you a fine, get you time in jail and most importantly - cost you your job.

Cold hard cash pales in comparison to HOT SWEATY CASH!

Tempting I bet but in most trading locksmith's case, a little "sexy time liquid explosion" won't be able to feed their families or help pay for that tubular key cutting machine you were looking for an excuse to get.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Many things are better than cold hard cash, Grasshopper! Later in life a man's regrets are not what he has done, but what he has NOT done, but could have done...
