I've recently got together a website for my locksmith business. I hoping I'm on the right lines with it, would love to know whay anybody thinks, especially if there is anything missing or could be improved in some way.

Are you targeting commercial work primarily? I found that it seems to use a lot of technical jargon that might confuse people.

I really think that dumbing it down a bit, might allow the less educated to more easily understand what you are offering.

Hi, thanks for that. I am primarily targeting commercial and corporate clients and I wanted the site to appear professional as there are a lot of (dare I say it) 'lesser' operatives in my area, no point in competing with them. Why, obviously it means you don't install a lock.

I think it looks good. Just a couple of quick suggestions:

• The "description" meta-tag on your home page includes "20 yrs experience". I'd probably spell out "years" (i.e., instead of "yrs") if you think that's a key word that people will be searching on.
  
• In the meta "description" as well, you might also think of using "installation" or "installer" and "maintenance" rather than "installed and maintained". (If people are searching with those terms, they're more likely to search for "lock installation Bournemouth" than "lock installed Bournemouth"; same thing with "safe maintenance" versus "safe maintained".)
  
• I'm not entirely sure why, but your "Our Background" section isn't rendering properly in my browser (Firefox). It cuts off the "Morland" in "was opened in Bournemouth in 1964 by founder Ron Morland". (I can only see the tops of the letters in "Morland".)
  
• Same problem with the "Fire & Security Safes" section: the last word ("applicable") is cut off.
  
• In the "Lock Installations" section, I wonder if you want something stronger than "standards are complied with"? It could be misread to suggest that you're doing the minimum work required to just meet the standards. (Perhaps something like "Our high standard of care ensures that your lock installations will meet all applicable BS, EN and fire code standards" instead?)
  
• I think the statement that "We also hold a variety of reconditioned obsolete locks." might need some additional explanation. Just so that nobody misinterprets that as "he's going to try to sell me an obsolete lock?!", you might want to expand that. (I'm assuming that you mean that in the sense of "We can replace your older hardware with a matching lock, or provide spare parts for some older systems that are out of manufacture"?)

Thanks everybody for the feedback. MacGyver101 you have obviously looked at it in some detail and have come up with some very good points. I'm looking into the Firefox cut-off problem and hope to have it fixed soon. Also understand what you mean by some of the grammer. This has helped a lot, thanks!

I've done some updates now, following some great points raised and hope the site is better. I don't want to dumb it down though as I'm pitching for the higher end of the market. I'd be very grateful if anybody out there using Opera or Firefox browsers could let me know if some paragraphs are still missing the last word, or if I have managed to fix it. It's better, but still not 100%.

Previously, it was only the top few pixels of each letter that was visible: it's now showing more, but the bottom half of the letters in "Morland" (Our Background) and "standards" (Lock Installations) are missing, as are the descenders on the P's in "supplied" (Access & Egress Control).

A technical note (if you don't understand this suggestion just ignore it).
If you use semantic tags like "h1" your site is better ranked by search engines rather than formatting a "p" or a "span" big to show the user it's a title.

And now a content related question: if you serve the "Bournemouth postcode area", why do you need that worldtimeserver watch?

I tried to give you 2 constructive suggestions, don't blame me...
