If you take the National Locksmith they did a national survey in the Dec 06 issue, pages 98 & 99. I'll quote just a few prices here from the survey. Don't want to violate any copyright laws quoting too many. Prices are in US Dollars.

Service charges Prices are listed in order, Avg, High, Low
Daytime 51.50 85.00 32.00
Night 75.25 125.00 50.00

Key Duplication
American Single Cut 2.25 7.00 1.00
American Double Cut 2.75 12.00 2.50

Rey-key (In Shop Prices)
Key In Knob 12.37 25.00 7.00
Rim Or Mortice High Security 10.40 19.99 7.00
Pick 15.33 75.00 5.00

This is just a few as there are 2 full pages of pricing.

Larger Area...

Postby hippy5749 » 1 Feb 2007 22:23

Larger Area, More Gas, More Advertising to cover bigger area. etc.....

The More calls you do, the more money you need to cover it. Fact of life.

Before you yrt at your price, just read a couple of books on starting a business to get an idea of what costs there are....

Just my advise.......

metro Atlanta

Postby recre8ion » 3 Mar 2007 1:55

Referring to 2octops post. The metro Atlanta area is very densely populated. I think a million +. The 1996 Olympics was hosted there. I live 150 miles north in South Carolina. I would like to start a business and service the Greenville-Spartanburg area.

Don't be afraid to drive for work. If you drive 20 miles to the next city for a $75 job and it takes a total of 1 hour and $5 in fuel, you're still at $70/hour + impulse sales. That's not bad. While you're there you can also do some advertising... meeting people, and leaving some business cards.
