ok i went to see them today(i start work tommorow).Basically i'll be repinning(tommorow)(and master keying), making keys, duplicating, i will go out on lock installs. they actually dont do many lock outs as they do more commercial than residential, and yeh. so i will be eventually asking them if they would take me on as an appremtice.

At least you get the job with a lockie. If I was looking to work for a locksmith I would take whatever they offered. Besides, if you prove yourself to be trust worthy, driven and have a positive attitude, they'll probably let you move up in the shop.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

no sweeping at all. :D they had me remove cams from locks shim them with a blank remove plug with plug follower, get random keys get a core, place pins to match keys and place that in the 570,530 housing( forgot which). i did 10-15 of them, i took cores out of restricted locks recycled everything but kept the housing. with the 530/570 u have to repin the springs and top pins with a plug follower. i again did a few of them i also di some rekeying of a few locks. all i had to clean up was all my springs and pins that were left over and chucked em in the bin(the standard pins from the locks). next week im going out on a few jobs. that was my day. i also lernt how a lever lock works played witha 5 lever ross safe lock.i duplicated a few keys.they do a lot of master keying and are more of a commercial rather than residential based company.

Great mate, very glad to hear you got in.

I agree with the one comment. I have tried so many lockies, granted lockpicking is not everything, but it helps.

I get turned down mostly because my Locksmith lingo is above what normal joes asking for and apprenticeship is. So they may take me as an arse trying to scam or one up them.

However, even if it's sweeping, heck I would take anyshot a lockie was willing to give me to get into the trade.

As for the money issue, it's all about work calibur. I used to work construction, and everyone in the buis. knows income check time means 12- 15 hour days becuase everyone has there spring plans.

We were never dead, simply because my boss knew alot of diffrent things, anytime some called for an estimate he had it out the next day, and allt he work was maticulously done.

I belive if your buisness is slow and not making money, especially in security you need to rethink 1. advertising 2. increasing knowledge to expand your services.
