this is one of the most interesting threads i've seen in a while. I know how it feels to be in and out of the shop. i've been doing it for the last couple of years (recently turned 3rd year). It's good to learn the basics in a controlled environment, cause figuring out why (for e.g.) a gainsborough tri lock has screwed up with the owner breathing down your back for the first time isn't pleasant.
I work an a well established locksmith (20+ years. Boss' been in the industry for far more than that) and we operate fairly closely to the way you do. It's a pity alot of lockies these days are turning down auto jobs, cause IMO, it's a good part of the trade to be competent in.
One other thing: get yourself a notebook. Something small, with the individual letter tabs on the side. Write notes. Draw diagrams. Anything that makes you think 'wow, that's gonna be hard to remember', write it down. Then skim through it every now and then, refreshing yourself. It worked/works for me. Espcially in the area of card numbers for domestic and automotive.
Good luck with your apprenticeships, people. Happy locksmithing!

I dont follow that one, I dont recall ever doing that. BTW....the first model Toyota RAV4 released in Australia was in 1998.....I left Darwin L&K in 1997.
Tim has a poor memory or an active imagination or both. And he would have brought it up in the court case(which he lost) against me, if it existed which it did not.
I must say, it seems pretty typical of him. He was never a very honest businessman. I can tell you alot of information about his underhanded business dealings.
He'd probably try to deny them, but there are facts and records to substantiate them. Like the time he got investigated for tax evasion on the amount of money he failed to claim from after hours receipts.
