auto entry guidance needed

Postby learner » 22 Jan 2006 12:47

hi all,

I have been working as a locksmith for about 18 months and have never really had that much to do with auto entry - I carry an airbag and wires and that does me fine for most od the entry jobs I come up against - but if its a decent car of its deadlocked I@M STUMPED - acn anybody give me any advice on the best places to buy car entry tools or training places that are of any good.

Any advice would be of help - thanks guys

Hey there.

I'm in the same situation as yourself, actually. My auto tools consist of a one-hand jack, pump wedge, two long-reach tools, and a chincy strap tool i'll probably never use. (I bought those here & here)

Once I can justify the cost, I plan on buying two automotive lockout sets that have been recommended to me. One is by Z-Tool for $235 and the other by HighTechTools for $190. I have no idea their quality, apart from a single person's suggestion and my reading from their ordering website.

Now, if you hang around these forums long enough, there's an "advanced forum" for the discussion of automotive lock bypass. But since we don't want the average passer-by learning how to break into cars, it takes a bit of time to be invited to. (I'm still waiting...)

Hope this helps.

BTW. Have you ever had any luck with jiggler keys?

This type of information is not restricted from the general forums. Please share with the rest of us. :) (we generally frown upon "email me")

Aside from some really chintzy methods, I don't actually know of any good ways to handle deadlocking vehicles. On the upside most vehicles require the key to be used from the outside to deadlock, so there's no point in getting in anyway unless you can cut a new key, since it's almost certainly lost.

the best idea would be to focus upon the lock itself... IMO...

Yes they are car tools but you are askjing for a world of pain going into vehicle entry blind, you either need to know a lot and i mean a lot about cars and how they are put together or do some training before even starting to play with such things.

There is a book called 'The Best D*mn Car Opening Manual Period.' They gave it that name while assembling all the info it contains. It was written by Pro-Lok. FB has it in thier catalog for $154.95

edit: The filter didn't like the third word in the book title, But it is the actual title anyway.

What you should do is wait for an answer to your question. Don't hijack this thread.

you dont need auto entry training, all you need is a tibbe pick and a good overlifter set for 90% of vehicles.
john richard sells some excellent auto tools at reasonable prices.

auto entry is the easy part of auto locksmithing, an overlifter set is your best option for deadlocked cars, this is easily self taught and takes minutes to learn
you need training only on the auto key cutting and auto programming, this is freee from the supplier you buy your cutting machines from and programming training is offered free from OBD or advanced diagnostics when buying the programmer.

commercial training is only really needed in the stripping down of car locks and fitting, though this can be learnt for yourself on the bench and in the scrap yard, though this side is best trained for, but auto entry, invest in a good set of overlifters and a good tibbe pick, safe ventures offer both.
