I just wanted to introduce my self.
I'm currently a student in the locksmithing program at the North Bennet Street School.
I did look at some of the correspondence courses, Foley-Belsaw, etc. but I think this will end up being a much more comprehensive education.
So far we've covered key identification- a 2,000+ blank wall really makes this interesting:)
Fitting keys by hand, some basic picking of pin and wafer tumbler locks. Impressioning Warded and lever locks, as well as pin tumbler and wafer locks.
Lots and lots of mortise locks, a bunch of cylindrical knoblocks.
We've done some code work with Reed code books, and online codes,
now we're doing master keying, and it's pretty fun
And we're only 2 months in(out of nine)
For any of you that are looking into locksmithing schools, you might want to give it a look.
One of these days I'll write up a real review of the school
