You should prolly get the information about locks and tools used in your area from your school.

If you're doing it for kicks and not for a bank, private owner, bank, etc., then what you're doing is called theft and it's generally frowned upon.
Better change your mentality before you get involved, no bank/dealer will want anything to do with someone who says that kind of stuff, even in joking.

Wow! I am convinced. Let's grant this guy advanced access today!! I mean, he does have 17 posts AND a locksmith certificate.
It just amazes me what people think they might get away with.
(Stepping off the soapbox).....it's been a long day.

I believe clearstar (although i could be wrong) is the official version of this forum which accepts certificates and grants full access. here its a hobby picking forum and although we welcome locksmiths and hobby pickers alike the rules require you play nice and help others rather than taking a course before you are granted access to the good stuff and freedom to ask about locks that should not be tampered with by the general population.
You serve your time and help the new guys to get advanced access just like everyone else.

There is no such magical list in the advanced area that will tell you exactly what tools to buy. My advice is to look aroung you and see what are the most popular locks and vehicles in your area, then go to one of the many online retailers that sell these tools and purchace them. For repo work you will be fine with just an airwedge and a long reach tool 95% of the time. Keep in mind all of the fancy tools in the world will do you absolutely no good if you don't have the training how to use them properly.

Look, I did not mean to offend and perhaps I was a bit rash in my reply. However, the rules for advanced forum access are clearly posted and asking for an exception that will clearly not be granted is just a waste of our time.
If you want to know about tools, then ask about tools.
I do not want this thread to degenerate into a flame war, so I will simply apologize to the original poster for my sharp initial response. I hope that you will find the information you are looking for on the site.
Humbly,
Vito

But this is the type of response you should expect whenever you ask for special treatments for any reason.
This kind of behavior and mentality can be compared to the police officer who walks up to the front of the line, flashes his badge and then cuts in line.
Locksmiths who do this kind of thing here gets shot down pretty hard so any locksmith students who expects special treatments should also be prepared for the same thing.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

First of all, i am polish, and doen't take eny offence to eny of this because i haven't had a drink in two years. Now, i doen't like police because most of them carry themselfs like pricks.I am not into authoritative behavior and am ashamed i appiered that way. What I am trying to say is I will be asking lotst of qwestions regarding all auto locks that are not basic very low security single and double sided disc locks. As for attitiute, dham straite my hart will pound and I will get grait kicks doing semi truck repo's they pay good and steady from what i had learned at "SCHOOL" you see at "SCHOOL" you learn from the oldguys thats its all about money, lockpicking skills is #1 when doing repo contracts for a balliff or collection agancy's. /as for playing nice with other, well thats only fair. Im allabout talking to people intrested in starting a locksmith biss and auto repo.Code machines what to buy what not, hardware instalation, panic divices, lockpicking, basic safe, impresstioning, tips and trick of the trade helping people out. I thought thier would be plenty of repo guys hear but i guess i was wrong, repo attitude lololololololo

I quit doing all work for repo companies a long time ago because I didn't like the people that I had to deal with. They were pushy, unprofessional and honestly, I just didn't like the idea if someone had fallen on bad times, the vultures were circling to swoop down. I didn't want to be associated with part of that group. You can be a succesful locksmith by staying in the "help people" group and out of those that move in the shadows. Ok, I'll get off my soap box.
PS If you get into repo work, you better get really good and fast at it. Most guys can't tell the difference in the dark between a thief and a locksmith.
Don't believe everything you think.

and yes i am a locksmith because a know how to preform the all basic services that a locksmith does on the job, enyone can be a locksmith if they want, i find it very easy. thats why im starting my own biss, auto, commercial, residential locksmithing, if i can't handle the job at hand i say sorry and walk away, simple as that. Thats a very stupid question to ask me if i think im a locksmith, i went to school for it and paid over a grand not to be a locksmith?? we all have to start someware if your an apprentice locksmith then your a sucker because most old bastart say you must have experience to do this, or do that, but in reallty enyone can pick a lock, re-pin it, and put it back on a door.Hellloooooo their nothing special about locksmithing,
